So this is what we massaged Team GAP's suggestion into (hopefully we didn't ruin it too much for you).
Here's how this works:
Starting Up
- At the end of this season (season 5), every team will select 2 skills that will become their "Camp Skills". I am gonna be a jerk and make everyone do this as part of a season-ending activity check. So if you don't submit 2 skills, you don't keep your team.
- During this off-season (and probably subsequent off-seasons), each team gets a bonus to one or more select fighters from their own camp for these skills.
* For brand new teams, when you sign up and create your camp, you will select 2 Camp Skills at that time that your team will benefit from.
Your Time at Camp
During the season, any team can choose to send any one of their fighters to any camp for upgrading. That fighter will miss 1 event at which they would typically be scheduled to fight. So if your fighter fought at ManMMA 1, then you sent him to camp, he would miss his probable ManMMA 5 fight and his next fight would be at ManMMA 9/10ish.
How it Works
After you send your fighter, the receiving camp chooses (and posts) what skill they are developing for your fighter. When your fighter returns, they will have their upgrade applied.
Unqualified Fighters
- Current Champions cannot be sent to camp. I want them to defend their belts every 4 events. Like clockwork.
- Number 1 Contenders CAN be sent to camp, but they will probably lose their number 1 contender status.
- Injured fighters cannot be sent to camp.
The Cor99/Grand Prix Complexity
We can all thank Cor for this mess of a section, but here's what we have for Grand Prix. SWe all know for Grand Prix, you submit 1 fighter per weight class. We also know, not every team has more than 1 fighter per weight class.
If a fighter is in training come Grand Prix time, they are ineligible to participate in the Grand Prix. Now, if that team has only 1 fighter in that weight class and that guy is in training, the team forfeits every Grand Prix fight in that weight class.
i.e. GrappleMuch has only Benson Henderson at LW. He sends him to Camp training at ManMMA 98. If GrappleMuch qualifies for Grand Prix, he automatically loses all LW fights, having no other LW to come in for him at the event. Follow that? So choose your timing of camps carefully. If a guy is in training after ManMMA 115, 135, 155, etc. He will be inelligible for Grand Prix.
If you have more than 1 fighter in that weight class, no problem - the other fighter can fight it.
Limitations
- You may only send 3 fighters per season to camp.
