? No, he is taking Invicta's entire strawweight division basically. Meaning they have no one. (Sorry, I don't understand what you mean)

I don't understand what you mean... he can't just take their straw weight division. That's not the type of deal Invicta has with UFC.

OMG what the hell is Shannon thinking? :-/ I mean unless she's working out a "farm system" deal with the UFC now. Weird.

I think she kind of is. And in a way, it's smart business. Now, when people think of UFC-calibre WMMA fighters, they think of Invicta. Farm system or not, it means you are seeing people who might one day be in the UFC. Not just "the rest of the fighters in the world".
But it does make it hard to be a legitimate fight organization. Kinda lose-lose when one company holds a monopoly as the UFC does.

I think the best way to survive as a promotion company with the UFC always hovering over your shoulder is to embrace deals with the UFC to continue to operate but at the same time affiliate with them.
I could see if you get cut from UFC you go back to Invicta, so there's some long-term fighter safety for those that are always going to be middle of the pack OR if Invicta needs a top fight for a card and can use those moderate UFC women fighters to bounce back and forth.

That's a good point, it is beneficial for the fighters to have this type of deal, and job security. Makes you wish the UFC and other MMA promotions could get on similar terms for the good of the fighters, rather than having bitch-fests an contract disputes at each other all the time.

I figured that was what they were doing with Strikeforce, but apparently not, though having an agreement with showtime may have been a big factor on that front.

Yeah, probably. Dana has said their interest in devouring other companies is strictly dying ones, and that Invicta was safe because it was a growing success...but oh, how it would be good for MMA if there was a men's Invicta equivalent. The Ben Askren situation is a prime example of a fighters career being fucked up simply because of company politics. He should be in the UFC, plain and simple. But because of Bellator's rep with Dana, he is in ONE for god sakes. ONE!

Something seems off about it... Isn't the reason Shannon left Strikeforce and created Invicta, was cuz Zuffa treated their women like shit in Strikeforce? Now she's doing business with Zuffa again and allowing them toe strip her company. Seems odd to me.
