there was a thread where rocketmen put in a request for ortega a couple of months ago and it now says i dont have permission to see that page, but he also wasnt put in draft. but i want ortega. can i buy ortega? i know we just put up first card announcement of season, but things got crazy with new members. i will even pay more than is required to get him because it involves a likely fighter creation i also would like to bring in sean o'malley. dont care if hes gonna be a super project fighter, hes just entertaining enough that i think he could be fun on here again i would pay extra for these guys let me know thoughts The Sandmen because this is likely more work for you but trying to round out team with new up and coming talent, keep things fresh if this isnt a go then i want them in next season of nxt so that i can try and get them later but yeah since donating my entire team, i would be willing to pay like 10 of the 50 points given for the team donation to have these two guys and try and work on them let me know if possible

O'Malley isn't eligible for ManMMA, and Ortega barely is as well. If Ortega beats Holloway he would be.

I think Ortega would be a monstrous add to NXT for the upcoming season and could be the prized possession for next year's draft. Saying the number 2 ranked fighter in his division is "barely" ready for ManMMA is a gross miscalculation considering the guys we've had on this site, and still do.

The only thing he fits in the eligibility for the site is beating other fighters that are eligible.

I personally don't think this is fair. Yeah you did some awesome stuff but you shouldn't get special treatment. Ortega should be on NXT

I brought in alot of fighters a bit too early too. It's a gamble every time. He's got virtually no roster too. I'd say let him gamble.

im just tired of seeing new fighters walk in and are immediately decent fighters. new fighters should be project fighters

Plus with guys like Ducks & Byron getting the amount of points for liquidating their teams or Bullies having been relatively inactive in upgrading, these new fighters are often amazing right off the hop. We've seen it with guys like Anthony Johnson or like Cody Garbrandt for you in his rookie season.

Ok, so what's the problem with upgrading rookies so much? Are we suggesting putting a level cap on rookies? That could actually be interesting

No it isn't. The complaint made, whether intended or not, is that people are putting too many points into rookies before they even fight. How dare they! It's their points to spend. If they want to put those points into rookies instead of waiting 5 years to upgrade properly, they are allowed to do so. Not sure why people are up in arms over good upgrading skills. Suggesting someone is created by The Sandmen better than others is one accusation that can't really even be calculated. Because people are created, by my understanding, based on their real-life fight style. So if they get an unfavorable match-up and lose because their holes are exploited, then it's your job to upgrade them and plug those holes. BUT being frustrated that people draft someone and have points to spend and then put those points into that fighter is being upset with nothing. That's the whole point of the site. Get someone, make them better. There isn't magical additional points floating around. Just because Bullies hasn't spent anything in a while doesn't mean he has more points than you. You spent those points that he hasn't. There's literally nothing wrong going on.

Fun fact - if someone drafts a "hasn't-done-anything-yet" like Brian Ortega, he will be among the worst in the league when he is made. I cannot help how he performs, nor how he is upgraded. Not sure why Anthony Johnson nor Cody Garbrandt were mentioned since they were both heavily upgraded when they came in, but Anthony was below-average when he came in, and Cody was at a reasonable level (having held a UFC belt, and had wins over a few legit people, especially Cruz). He was brought in around mid-pack (do probably about a 76ish?).
This is the same system that has been used since the site launched. The difference is, people like to forget the new guys that amounted to nothing and were discarded immediately (Paul Sass, TJ Grand, Dennis Hallman, Evan Dunham, Geisen Tibeau, Micheal McDonald, Tarec Saffediene, Dong Hyun Kim, Costa Philippou, Keith Jardine, Alan Belcher, Jake Ellenberger...like, how long do you want this list? That's just some names from 2 random weight classes)
Not only that, but new people fight other new people for about half of their first season. So new people beating other new people is not really a sign that new people are created better than they used to be.
And all of this is forgetting the fact that NXT has developed the last 2 seasons of fighters.
The accusation of "these new fighters are often amazing right off the hop" is beyond ludicrous when you actually look at the names, history, and facts. One guy who was HEAVILY upgraded and then fine-tuned in his first 4 events is not "often". It's one guy.

my comment was just an observation i made. newer fighters "seem" to be better that older new fighters.
and the fact so many teams have been able to save up 10000000 points. it makes newer fighters even more dangerous.
i have been saying for ages that there should be a cap on how many points you can save up before spending. i thought we made the rule ages ago.. but it was never followed through on.
