i watched the fight last night. my thoughts: round one i thought was conors because he landed a couple shots before khabib started laying on conor. khabib was doing no damage. the fighters should have been stood up nothing was happening. round 2 was definately khabibs... solid grappling and solid shots landed. round 3 was conors as he was out boxing khabib. round 4 was looking like it would be conors again... but khabib started grappling and started to win round 4... then conor tapped. i think conors tap was too early.. conor didnt seem to be in too much trouble.. he could of gotten out of it. i think conor panicked. then all the crazy shit after the fight was kinda dumb. khabib should be stripped of his belt for not acting like a champion. code of conduct violation. It's entirely possible that I disagree with every single sentence of this post. Might be a record for most consecutive sentences I disagree with completely. Interesting. You think round one went to Khabib, round two went to Conor because Khabib didn't have solid grappling and solid shots, and round three went to Khabib because Conor wasn't ouboxing him, and round four didn't win round four cuz of tapping? I agree that Conor was in trouble and couldn't have gotten out of it though. |

I think maybe people went into watching that fight with certain expectations. I went into it thinking "either Conor is going to knock him out standing, or Khabib's taking it to the ground and going to wrestle-fuck/ground and pound the entire fight". And then Khabib rocked Conor standing.
There were VERY few moments in that fight where I felt Conor was even a little bit threatening. Even the jabs he landed, Khabib basically walked through those punches.
So, suggesting the fight was close, in my eyes, is pretty far from the truth.

Khabib literally bitch-slaps Conor (on purpose) during Conor's "best round":  Here's 34 seconds straight of Khabib pounding Conor's face into oblivion that is apparently "sloppy" versus "Conor doing everything he can to fucking stay alive and continue being a living human being." /video/1Many fights have been stopped for less. Goes more to show that Herb Dean (who has grown to become a worse and worse ref as the years continue) gave Conor every chance to live. After this, Conor apologized to Khabib in the octagon and said it's just business, regarding all the shit he did up to this point. Then, Khabib rocks Conor. You know, cause it's just business. That's high level wrestling, and should be appreciated. It's not exciting, but it's the elite of the elite. |

Of course Conor asked the ref to stand them up. That is exactly what one does when one is getting wrestle-dominated and has no idea what to do. It's a fight. If you don't like that the other guy is out-wrestling you, then be a better wrestler than they are, and don't let them hold you places you don't want to be. Control is control. And Conor got controlled. That is a scoring criteria. |

Apparently. Cause that round was standing. That was the round Khabib walked over and slapped Conor in the face.
