The following is a list of the concussions I have gotten throughout my 19 years alive. Some dates might be more specific than others based on how I remember them, but thinking back, I certainly can remember how I got each of them, except for the first two. Had to ask the father about those.
Fall, 2004
Three year old Austin falls out of car onto the driveway and hits his head on the door falling out. I'm pretty sure I was dropped tbh. But that was the first, and it was only minor, like most of my concussions.
Summer, 2006
My brother, Sons of Anarchy, and I were wrestling at the top of a staircase in the duplex we lived in. I was five, he was two. We both took a tumble down the stairs while clinging to each other, and all I remember after that was drop kicking my brother off the table in the basement. We both were banged up there.
Fall, 2006 (1st Grade)
I was playing tag on the playground with a bunch of my friends, and I was pretty reckless while at the same time competitive, so I pulled some risky moves to avoid a tag. On one of the playground things, there was this platform that had a ladder going down the middle of it, with begs on two different sides. I jumped over the hole, barely landed on the other side and fell backward hitting my head on each peg going down. That was one of my worst ones, as I had to leave school and I didnt go to school the next two days after that one.
Summer, 2007
This was my second worst concussion, and probably the dumbest one I've had. I was standing in the garage of our newly built house, and I for some reason had the bright idea to try and balance on a basketball between my mom's car and the concrete steps leading up to our house inside the garage. There were only three steps though, it wasnt an entire flight of stairs. So, as you can probably guess, I lifted myself on the ball and used the car to balance, then the ball flew out from under my legs and I fell and hit my head and shin against the steps. Busting my leg open in the process. I managed to crawl inside the house bawling as my mom questioned what happened, and then I just kinda walked into my room and passed out on the bottom bunk. I woke up in the car on the way to the hospital, and I cant remember if I stayed over night or not. I was being watched closely after that one to make sure nothing serious was wrong with me.
May, 2011 (Baseball season)
We were playing against the second best team in our conference, (we were the best) and I remember everyone saying the pitcher we were gonna face was the hardest thrower in our league. At the time that meant he was throwing about 60 mph, which is fast for elementary. I hit a 2 run double off the pitcher in my first at bat, and then my second at bat, I got drilled right in the face. I have a picture of my face bruise somewhere that I'll post later, but it sucked. It came in, I turned my head to not get hit in the face, and the ball ricocheted off my shoulder into my jaw, chipping a back tooth in the process. I finished the game just fine, but when I went home I got sick and threw up, and found out I had another concussion. This meant no football for me, which sucked cuz I was just about to go into middle school and I wanted to start playing.
Fall, 2011 (6th Grade)
This one might be my dumbest. I tried to wall run up a brick pillar we had in our school (this was my first year at this new school) and I somehow pushed off the pillar and fell forward and hit my head on the corner of the brick and busted the top middle part of my head open. Not my brightest idea ever.
April, 2013 (8th Grade)
We were playing soccer in gym class outside, and I was standing in front of someone that kicked the ball, and what seemed like a missile shot at my face, hit me in the head, and knocked me right off my feet. I threw up almost instantly and struggled to walk for a second after that.
June, 2017 (10th Grade)
I was working at a new job and I hit my head on a wooden shelf when I was picking something up underneath it. I was disoriented for the rest of the night and went home and went to bed, which I shouldn't have.
May 22nd, 2018 (11th Grade)
I remember this date so well because it was the day after I got my drivers license. Thank god or the picture would have been terrible. I was using an elastic band in baseball practice to workout my arm, and the metal carabiner that was attached to the fence got kicked by a buddy as a joke and it dislodged and shot through my lip, and knocked out two adult teeth on the top left of side of my mouth. I was bent over facing the ground when it hit me, and the impact made me spin around 360 degrees and fall to the ground. There was a ton of blood and my head wasnt my biggest concern. I got stitches inside my mouth and on my lip, and I had to have one of my teeth that got knocked out surgically removed. It was only after all that the doctor let me know to take it easy because I had a concussion.
Fall, 2018
I was practicing for the upcoming season of baseball, my senior year, in the batting cage. Just taking some reps, and I wasnt wearing a helmet because that's just not something we do when practicing in the cage for some reason. Especially when it's soft toss. I actually hit my head twice this day, so I'm not sure which one actually concussed me. The first impact was when I crushed a line drive and it reflected off the pitching screen and hit me right above my left eye. My buddy ran to me to make sure I was okay and I said I was, but I did have an imprint of the seam of the ball on my forehead. That hurt, but not nearly as bad as what came next. And this was a total fluke thing, however I should have put on a Helmet. The aluminum bat I was practicing with was like ten years old, and when I hit the ball, it broke at the handle and was hanging by a thread and swung around and hit me in the back of my head as I followed through. I couldn't even hit the ball after that, so i think that was the definite cause of the concussion. The back of my head is an especially weak spot for me because I have an extra bone in the back of my head that can fuck with my brain if it's hit hard enough.
April 16th, 2019
This was my most recent, and saddest concussion. It was my senior year of high school and I wanted to duel sport Track and Baseball. It was the beginning of the season, and during the 200 meter dash I started to lose my balance as I was crossing the finish line, and in order to avoid laying out into the track, (I was in lane 1) I leaped to the turf, and rolled and hit my head on the metal time clock. I immediately launched up and jogged over to my team with the adrenaline boost I had, assuring people I was okay. A few minutes later I fell over and was super dizzy and nauseous. I was concerned with my head so much I didnt even notice I also broke my wrist, effectively ending my senior year of sports. This was my biggest regret in my high school career, and sent me down a pretty depressed time in my life. I worked really hard to recover from the concussion and broken wrist to make it for the last bit of baseball, but when judgement day came, I wasnt cleared to play.
So yeah, that's how I got all 11 concussions.
