Hey whassup guys. (inside joke...that only I get...awesome)
Anyways, curious. When it comes to matchmaking, would you rather I go primarily based on win streak (so winners fight winners, losers fight losers), or based on records (so 16-3 fight 16-3s)? By the time you see this, the match will be made, but right now I am torn with the following issue:
Gina Carano is due for a fight. She lost her last fight. So I have:
- Gina Carano, (20-3), -1
The only people due up for a fight now comparable by streak in any way are:
- Zoila Gurgel, (13-9), -1
- Aisling Daly, (3-4), -1
- Julia Budd, 2-1), -1
- Cat Zingano, (3-4), -1
To me, the above fights make little sense because Carano has basically already walked through them. The only almost-worthy fight is Gurgel. But if we go by record, I COULD put this match together:
- Sarah Kaufman (18-5) vs. Gina Carano (20-3) - for like, the 5th time.
But Kaufman is on a 2 fight win streak, 1 win away from a title shot. If Carano beats her, it means nothing for Carano, since she isn't getting a title shot with 1 win, and Kaufman loses all her momentum, so its one of those stupid all-risk, no-reward fights for Kaufman.
So moral of all this babble, if you followed this mess, was...GENERALLY, should I match people up with people that make closer fights (regardless of record), or should I go primarily with record match-ups (which is what I do now), since one in a while, streakers surprise us, and become champions (Cro Cop, Tyson Griffin, etc).
SO, I guess to help me out, I am asking you in the above example, what match would YOU make, and why? I run into this often with guys like Kimbo Slice, and Junior dos Santos as well. Not just the ladies. Anyways, yeah, what match would you make and why?
