A recent suggestion came up to up the number of fighters in the Grand Prix to 5 for each team, making it Lightweight, Middleweight, Heavyweight, Women's, and Open Weight. The first 4 are self-explanatory. But the Open weight could be any weight class, including women. You select your fighter for that class when you submit your fighters for the Grand Prix. You can NOT change your fighters, remember, so there would be some strategy in that open weight, as xx - The Underdog Regime pointed out. Perhaps instead of submitting your best MW to the MW fights, you move him to Openweight, and use your second-best MW. Anyways, this poll is about whether or not we should shift to a 5 fight Grand Prix or not. Pros: - Women get to fight - More "Fighters in Danger" have a chance to be saved Cons:- MIGHT need to spread Grand Prix into 3 sims, instead of the 2 we do currently. - Would that be boring for eliminated/Non-GP teams? So. Should we increase the Grand Prix fights to these 5 fights, or leave it as it is?

No. 5 FIGHTERS. Not 5 events. The same number of teams would be participating (the top 8).

I voted for 3 then it would suck for the other teams to sit out for two whole events

I voted for 3 then it would suck for the other teams to sit out for two whole events That's why the battle for the GP spot will be much more exciting. You want to be in that spot, you want to see your fighters improve and beat other fighters. I always felt that every GP, there was a clear cut favorite and clear cut winners. You knew who would win, and move on and i get a little bored with GP predictions. That's why I suggested the 5 fighters. It's more exciting, it makes you upgrade more fighters than just one or two, the open weight division makes predictions tougher and upsets could be in the making for each battle.

The open weight class would be annoying. I'm fine with how it is.

The open weight class would be annoying. I'm fine with how it is. What makes you think so? See, I think popping someone like Daley in there against some shit plug like Tim Sylvia could make for some interesting catch weight fights that we will not see any other way. It's not like anyone will be putting Demetrius Johnson in there...right?

That's sort of the issue. If we did do it this way, there would have to be a parameter set on who or what weight class you can toss in for that fight without risking injury. Second to that, what if someone threw a woman in there against a heavyweight?

Dumb. We set weight classes for a reason.

For titles and such, yes. Same with rankings and match-making. But Grand Prix is supposed to be something special. Open weight is whatever people make it. I don;t think anyone will toss some scum into the open weight for no reason. No one has submitted shitty fighters to the grand prix so far, so no reason to believe they would start now.

Honestly, I'm not a big fan of the Open Weight category, just leaves the door open for a pretty unfair advantage if most put in an MW or an LW and 1 team puts in an HW and obliterates everyone, like say Anderson. But I'll take it if it's the only way to get the gals into the GP. I just think we can come up with a better way or just add the women. I still don't understand why it can't be just the 4 weight classes... seems silly to me that it has to be an odd number.
I'm just willing to accept the Open Weight if it gets the women in, that's pretty much it.
