Ok, so here's the deal. I'm sure you've all noticed by now that the ML forums aren't appearing on the main page at this time. This is because The Sandmen and I are having a disagreement as to how we should be moving forward with the ML as it pertains to my points for posts being that I'll be simming the ML once we get it going again.
What I'm going to do here is give you all the facts and put it to a league vote and we'll adhere to whatever the majority feels is the right course of action in this instance. This could be a bit long-winded, but please read it all cuz it is all pertinent and I feel you should all have the full story to make an educated vote and not one based on who you like better.
Now, I'm not going to lie... taking on this staff position has proven to be a bit stressful for me; not it terms of the actual work involved; that's the fun part. It's because I've been actually trying to change the culture and nature of my dealings with the rest of the members, and thus far has proven ineffective because I'm continually getting baited into verbal wars, at this time mostly with The RocketMen, and it's not always easy to just "turn the other cheek", so to speak, but at the same time when I'm also trying to join into the conversations, the trash talk, etc. it's ending up turning into trolling wars, and that's not fun for anyone.
Another stressing contributor for me has the fact that, despite Sandman claiming that when I took this new position that this would be a 50/50 senario, it's been anything but 50/50. One of us will suggest something and the other will disagree and it'll turn into a big bitch fest between the two of us and solving nothing in the end because with us both being "alpha type" personalities with different opinions and views on pretty much everything, we've been having many clashes over a variety of issues. It's been like oil and water. But when push comes to shove, Sandman tends to take the attitude that "I'm the admin, and you're not... so we're going to do what I want." and generally giving me these "compromises" that only meet what his ends. The only thing that I've really somewhat been able to get done was the "Summer Points" giveaway, but even then, that wasn't my idea for what I wanted done with those points, it was Sandman's. It's also been his constant public scrutiny on the boards on things that I've done for the site and always finding some sort of fault with everything I've done. There's never been any need for it, but he'll go ahead and do it anyways so he still looks like "The Man" around here which in my mind leads everyone else to believe that I'm not staff at all, and I'm still just an "employee" like I was before this season. I could be wrong, but with the way I get treated around here by some members, it looks more and more like that is the case than not.
It's these factors that have lead me to wanting to step down and go back to being that "employee" and I've made that known to Sandman a few times already, and it's usually been during one of our epic clashes; which makes it look like I'm just leaving in a huff after a "Kruze bitch fest" as it's now been dubbed, but the reality is that when you have two stubborn alpha type personalities clashing that don't budge on anything, eventually one of them's going to get fed up.
But here's the kicker, and the reason for this poll:
When I've said I'd step down, Sandman would say "Fine, but you'll stay at 75 posts/point until the end of the season, as per our agreement." which I don't believe is right if I wouldn't be considered "staff" anymore, but he feels that it'd be "punishment for leaving in a huff" when the reality is, nothing would change except that I wouldn't be called "staff" anymore and he wouldn't be bouncing ideas off me; all my tasks would remain the same as before and I'd be back to being just an "employee" which is pretty much exactly how it is now anyways, but somehow I'm still considered "staff".
However, now that I'm poised to take over the simming for the ML and was about to post a card, Sandman feels that my point for posting should immediately go up to 100 posts/point as opposed to the 75 that we agreed upon at the beginning of this season; which, in my view, contradicts his stance noted in the above paragraph. If that's the way it works one way, then really it should work the same way going the opposite direction? Sandman's current contention appears to be that it's an unfair advantage to be at 75 posts while simming the ML, yet we were already having an issue before with my post load not warranting the raise in post count just yet with my new position.
Now, to be clear, it's not about going up to the 100 posts/point that's not my issue with this; I have no problem with it except for the fact that it appears to be a double standard on Sandman's part. It's the principle of it, not the actual going up to 100 posts, which I'm willing to do at the end of the season based on the facts presented to you here. My only issue with going up to the 100 posts immediately is that it does create a bit more calculation work for me in terms of the PA thread and I would prefer to eliminate that part from it and have my post number be on an even number so that it's a simpler and easier update of the thread. That part would just make my task allot faster and more efficient to perform.
Thank you for reading all this. I know it wasn't all that pleasant and I realize it may seem a bit like quibbling, but when it comes to principle, I'm a big believer in it and there shouldn't be a double standard for anything. I'm sure Sandman will have something to add to this, but these are the facts as I currently see them and I will adhere to what you folks decide should be done.
Thank you again for reading and for your patience. These are the options for the poll, your opinion is important, so please vote your conscience:
Question: What should be done with the ML & PHX's posts/point situation now that he's the simmer?
Option #1: Allow PHX to remain at 75 posts/point while simming the ML until the end of the season then moves to 100 posts/point.
Option #2: PHX immediately moves to 100 posts/point because he's simming the ML.
Option #3: ML is put on hold until the end of the season then there's no dispute.
Option #4: Scrap the ML; No one but GAP & PHX care about it anyways.
