Let's talk fighter caps! (Yes, we have those )
After long, and careful discussions and deliberations, Phoenix and I decided rather than continuing with the sliding scale cap system we currently have, a hard cap system makes more sense at this time. Though we might review this in the future, for now we feel it will fix many of the more complex issues that go on behind the scenes. So let's do some FAQ, shall we?
Why do we need a cap at all?
Because once a fighter is maxed out at 100 overall, they are unbeatable. If someone is upgraded to match that, the fights between those two are long, shitty, drawn out disasters. Moral: they will ruin the league.
What was wrong with the sliding scale cap?
It meant that as long as the top 2 fighters in a weight class kept getting upgraded and exchanging title belts, they could perpetually be upgraded. Thus, no one would ever catch up and the teams with points perpetually own the title holders.
Why a hard cap?
It solves the sliding scale problem - once the top fighters are maxed, they are done. It also creates a different upgrade dynamic. You have to consider long-term what you want to do with your fighter, as well as short term. Because at a certain point, they are capped, and that's pretty much it.
What is the cap?
It's based on overalls, which are probably meaningless to you. But for the hardcore people who care, it's 78 overall for women, and 84 for men.
That seems low.
It's not. It means you can max out about 12 of the 19 stats, depending on where everything else is.
Oh. Awesome, ok then!
Great.
