It was changed in that champions could take non-title fights against other weightclasses but not against their own weightclass. It's unfair to their weightclass to not be able to challenge the champion, non-title or not, when everyone else under the sun can. The rule before that was champions didn't fight non-titles fights at all. You even said so when the idea was proposed initially for a non-title rematch vs. D'Alelio. It wasn't as broad spectrum as being specific to weightclass.
Furthermore, I didn't ignore it. As I said in that thread, I've already declined this senario for this challenge, so I voted no. But now you're trying to force it down my throat and masking it with "making the card better", and you'll probably succeed too since dangling an earlier title shot to someone is a pretty good incentive. In my opinion, if you're the booker and you can't make a good card with the top fighters in the league without having one champion drop their title, that's pretty sad.

I've cleaned up the idea of challenging people to fights a sliver I dunno about anyone else, but to me that says it was tweaked a little. Also, it was either when we were dealing with the D'Alelio/Carano issue, or it was someone else's challenge to a champion, you did state in black and white that champions cannot accept non-title fights, but next thing you know, there's a challenge page posted and suddenly you can challenge a champion outside a fighter's weightclass cuz there was suddenly a fight you wanted to see; Carwin/Askren.

I am bored with arguing with you incessantly about old stuff. The poll is posted, the league is selecting what it wants to see. The site is bored of listening to us argue, so I'm done here now.

ROFL The Sandmen runs away and claims it's boring when I present him with cold hard facts. Fucking priceless. :
