Helloooo everyone. That was an exciting night of fights. Are you pumped, I'm pumped.
Business first. We had another sell-out attendance of 22,075. I think that makes for about 217 consecutive sell-outs, but some other stats guy can confirm or deny that for us. Our PPV numbers were back up to 3,648,295. I tell ya, the fans love the big boys and our big boys came out to play tonight!
We're very impressed with the heavyweights tonight, especially AListair Overeem. That guy's been through a lot here, and he just put it all together and brought a perfect game plan to dethrone a very tough champion in Mark Coleman. Similarly, Junior dos Santos has had a string of questionable performances lately, and to show up in A+ form against a very hot Bobby Lashley was impressive.
Now some "bad news". After some careful consideration, we've decided to move Khabib Nurmagomedov to the Fighters in Danger list. We need to see some improvements from him, or we'll be forced to release him. He has 2 more fights to show us something interesting, or show that he is willing to improve, or we'll be forced to release him from his ManMMA contract.
We've received a lot of questions on twitter about some other fighters as well that we feel we should address as well, so here goes:
Jeff Monson (0-2) - he's still a rookie, so he'll have a few more fights with us before we even consider the FiD-ing him
Tarec Saffiedine (0-3)- similar boat as Monson. They're still rookies, so we have to see how far down they fall. Once they start losing to the lowest level of fighters we have, then FiD might come into play. They have some time yet.
Shahbulat Shamhalaev (0-2) - Same boat as Tarec and Jeff.
Fallon Fox (6-12) - we need to start seeing some improvements out of her as well. Not FiD yet, but we hae an eye on her.
King Mo (19-24) - Ya know, we'd really like to see something happen with this guy. He's been around for a while and it feels like he is stuck in a middle ground and starting to grow stale there. He's on a 3-fight losing streak, so he is definitely on our radar. FiD list? No, not yet. But we'd like to see some better performances from him, even in defeat.
Sara McMann (14-23) - Sara McMann's a tough one. She's a bit like King Mo, but perhaps with more potential. She has the potential to be a star here, but just isn't getting the training she needs to move into top tier contension. Despite coming off of a pretty good win, she is still on our radar. Radar, not FiD. Yet.
Felice Herrig (5-12) - She's 1-1 this season, but her performances are just not what we'd like to see. If you're sitting at a win:loss ratio of 1:2, your fights better be pretty damned impressive. Felice is just not cutting it right now and could be one poor performance away from FiD.
Luke Rockhold (15-19-1) - Luke is on a 5 fight losing streak, so of course his name would come up here. We're reserving judgement on him until we see his next performance. At that time, we'll have a clearer idea of how "on our radar" Luke is or not.
Leslie Smith (1-9) - She's a tough one. It's near-impossible to book someone who is sitting at 1-9. She's had a lot of opportunities, and we just haven't seen any growth or improvement from her. We'll see how her next fight goes. For the most part, she is not boring, so that's something. If she can build off that and put some Fight of the Night performances under her belt, even in losing efforts, she might still be safe here.
Martin Kampmann (17-19) - Martin's on a 4 fight losing streak, but Martin brings it. He's working hard, and improving. He has 3 bonuses under his belt, and is still a growing competitor in the MW division here. He is safe.
Jason MacDonald (12-18) - He fights. He is on a bit of a losing streak, but winning isn't everything. He is working to improve his game, and he has 4 fight of the night bonuses, with 2 sub of the nights. 6 bonuses in 30 fights is not bad at all. He's also safe.
Frank Mir (8-15) - That's a tough one. Frank has all the skills, but one fundamental weakness. I think with the Rocketmen, he has a good shot of fixing that, and getting back into the game. We'll wait and see how his development goes before pushing him into Danger territory. Hopefully he can turn his game around, because we like him here.
I hope that addressed a lot of lingering concerns from the twitterverse. Any other questions, we'll open up the floor now.
