Then the UFC would lose a fortune. That's why they set up their armbar love child with a fighter who, if she had her way, would take Rousey to the ground, where Rousey would clearly armbar her for the win. It was a joke, really, not unlike handing Rousey a belt when she walked through the UFC doors. "Hi, have a belt."

"Good" should not warrant a free title fight. Yah, SHannon Knapp & Lauren Murphy didn't get that memo either. lol

I think they should have had a tourney or something to determine who the woman's champ was going to be... instead of just making it one fight

At least they are doing it right at Straw-weight. . They could feasibly do a tournament in Invicta for the Bantamweight belt; it's still their largest weightclass, but I think it'd be a tough sell it terms of some of the fighters being friends etc. (ie. We likely wouldn't see a Nakamoto vs. D'Alelio fight IRL; even though I think that'd be an interesting fight.) The gals are a different animal than the men sometimes in that this regard, where they won't fight their friends... some, not all. lol

Single night tournaments. I miss those. Might be time to pop on UFC 1-8 again. Those were fucking nuts.

I honestly don't remember which one was my first. I think it was a pre-gloves one though. And that would have been several years after they aired. My friend and I used to rent them at our local VHS video rental joint. They basically had like, 1-23 (or wherever the VHS stopped). I remember renting 16 - Battle on the Bayou and partially being disapointed with the gloves, but being in awe of Frank Shamrocks 20-second KO slam finish of the beefy Russian fellow (Zinoviev). What also stood out a lot to me is right after the customary "Yes, I won" Frank immediately went over to make sure his opponent was okay (turns out he wasn't - that slam was a career ending injury).

"Good" should not warrant a free title fight. when they want rousey the start to show dominance and be in that spotlight to make them money than yes plus she was already champ of strikeforce so they just gave the champ the belt deservingly where the mens already had a division..

Exactly, it's a hypocritical mess. The reason Dana White gave when asked why he would "never" allow women in the UFC was because he said there was just 1 dominant woman and everyone else getting their ass kicked (Cyborg). Then he builds the division around that same idea AND gives her hand-picked gimme fights on top of it. At this stage of the game, the UFC is doing as much damage for the sport as they have done good in the previous 20 years.

I see what you're saying, but Alexis Davis should NOT have been the gimme fight it ended up being... Otherwise, yes... you're correct.

Rousey cant help she so much better than everyone maybe they need to step thier game up also look at white he bringing in girls like holm for rousey.. Rousey is not that great.. she can be beat. Rousey is just on a great run right now and it's mostly cause they are not giving rousey the talented fighters that could beat rousey.. they are giving rousey fights against not so good fighters. dana white needs to serious look at what women would be a group of women that would provide decent exciting fights and that you would not know who is gonna win. Have those women fight. so bring in more women who are at rousey's level.

The fight for Rousey is Cyborg. But at this point, Dana has done the same thing with her he did with Fedor. He didn't like the fighter, so he made up bullshit excuses, didn't get the deal done, and then publicly trashed them and talked like they were not considered the best in the world just because they were not fighting under the UFC banner.
At this point, Rousey probably could beat Cyborg, just as Brock probably could beat Fedor. If you wait long enough, and provide one with the level of support those people get, you get better. Cyborg is not getting the ridiculous fortune Ronda is, despite being the best woman in WMMA for about a decade. Dana Don't like you, you have no career. That simple.
