Yeah, nothing shattered the Gracie legacy for me more than watching the Gracie family fights in Pride. Pride let them have all kinds of custom rules and stipulations that the Gracies pretty much changed up every time they lost. I particularly like when the Gracies got pissy because of judges, demanded an unlimited rounds fight against Sakuraba and he out-stamina'ed Royce after 90 minutes of fighting. Royce gave up on his stool. It was a thing of beauty.
Other special rules demanded by various members of the Gracie family in one MMA fight or another include: - No judges - Unlimited rounds - No ref stoppages - No knees or elbows to head standing up or on ground - No stand ups - No Strikes on the ground
These of course changed as time went on and the Gracies found more and more ways to lose, even under the Gracie-dictated rules (i.e. Unlimited rounds became no judges so rather than retiring as fools on their stools like tools, they got a draw).
The one thing the UFC did very, very right was not change their rules to cater to these twack jobs.

True. You see it a tiny bit, but nothing like UFC 8. That was the David vs. Goliath card. Such interesting fights. But fighter safety is paramount, and weight classes are important. Now, if we can get fight-day weigh-ins, I will be happy.

ManMMA fighters are not allowed to cut weight at all. They walk around and weigh-in at the exact same weight without ever gaining or losing a single pound. (Only exceptions being when Diego and ANderson switched weight classes)

We aim to impress. That is, as they say, how we roll. As they say.
