I am thinking about going with this schedule for next season. Since our numbers in most weight classes went down, it's been harder to schedule tournaments that make sense. People coming off loses (but ranked) have been included and others have made no sense to put in, etc. This would also give us more title defences in a season, and I think we would all be excited for that. Go titles go! # - Event number HW - Heavyweight Title Fight MW - Middleweight Title Fight LW - Lightweight Title Fight FF - Women's Title Fight [letter]1 - #1 Contender fight [letter]2 - Semi-finals fight. Thoughts, questions, comments, concerns?

HWs and Women title fights would be on the same card, and instead of defending a belt every 4 events like they do now, champs would fight every 3rd (giving them up to 7 title defences in a season, rather than 5). There would be 4 events between winning a tournament and your title shot. Currently its 5.

So it really only affects title fights?

So it really only affects title fights? No, it also affects the whole make-up of a tournament as well. Instead of Quarter-final fights, we would be skipping straight to semi-finals to open a tournament. So instead of 8 fighters entering the first round of a tournament, 4 would. But there would also be more tournaments in a year, so I would expect that to still balance out.

Right now, we have 3 cards a season that have 0 title fights on them. New system would make it only 1 card a season that has 0 title fights.

everything sounds ok.. i would prefer more fighters in a touney but when numbers have gone down i understand it's harder to have bigger tourneys.

Yeah, the recurring problem this past season was having to move fighters around because the tournaments lined up really bad. Like, Anderson would be in a tournament with 7 other guys who qualified for the tournament, but were like, 4-16 record fighters. So it would be a waste of a tournament and be boring and look bad. With 4 guys and the tournaments happening more often, it SHOULD allow some of that to balance out. We will have jacked tournaments and lighter ones, I think. Won't know for sure til we see it in practice.

mix it up so we have some good fighters and some not so good fighters in it. having a tourney of crappy fighters only to be destroyed by the champ is a waste.

Yes, but that is what we have now. 6 guys just there to get shredded by the 2 guys you know are the ACTUAL contenders. I'll do what I can, but it still makes no sense to give guys 2 fights before some have had any, or to put 3 scuzzers in a tournament against someone dominant. We'll see how it plays out. I think it should make tournaments better one way or another. Even if its a scrub-fest, that still gives the winner's team 4 events to upgrade their #1 contender before the title fight. Might see some interesting developments if people are willing to put the work in.
