The first overall pick wasn't THAT important... I had it; I got Barnett with it... a guy that basically took a season off and returned to my team... not that huge of a deal really. Yes, it's worth one more point and you don't have to swap a fighter for it, but really, that's the only advantages to it... and that, in and of itself, isn't that much of an advantage when you consider adding a fighter, depending on the season they have, could actually bring your team down, not up... and 2 points isn't really a significant number to make any meaningful impact to your team. I mean, don't get me wrong, I'm fine with the way it is, but I think it could be significantly better and more of an advantage for the team that finishes last to be able to obtain a more significant amount of points for the first overall pick (ie. 4-5 points), that way the pick itself holds more value and if that team elects to trade that pick, they might actuallly be able to obtain a more significant piece from someone with it or be more able to improve a fighter or 2 on thier current roster. As for the tanking, you might get that... but there's a chance of that happening in any league. Plus with the advent of the point cap set at 15 points that teams can cache, we're forced to use our points to an extent whether it's to upgrade fighter or to trade, so I don't see tanking as being much of an issue anymore unless a team goes out and gets all 81 cap fighters, and I don't see that happening, even with Cannon. Okay. But 1) For 5-6 points, I know Cannon will try to tank. Do I care? I try not to, but it still annoys me, as its completely the counter-point to the site. And here's the thing. If you don;t care about your TEAM, but just care about individuals, then you have no problem coasting on a bunch of scrubs and their poor records as long as the fighters you care about are winning and getting upgraded. That is what he has now. The absolutely last thing I want right now is people carrying fighters they don't care about for no reason. Now, all of this being said, I would be much more in favour of increasing the non-point value of winning a GP so people cared more about that. If people have ideas, I am all ears. I know for me the history of it is the coolest - having your name and your team put into the Grand Prix winners list. But like, since we have belts, it's not really like GP is comparable to, for example, the Stanley Cup on hockey sites. A team would be just as well served by tanking and upgrading their best fighters with the tanking as they would by winning the GP. That is why GP is worth the amount of points it's worth - to keep the winning-value high. I would like to start a suggestion thread where we can all discuss our ideas on this, rather than have this discussion here to get buried and bury other fight talk stuff. If anyone wants to start that, feel free. If not, I will do it when I get a few minutes.

That's just more excuses not to do something that's needed Sandman. The idea is to help the last place get better not add more value to winning the GP and give an even bigger advantage to them going into the next season but also keeps those bottom teams at the bottom. Besides, Cannon coasts and doesn't upgrade anyone but women anyways... who gives a crap? To the rest of us in the league, other than Cannon and maybe LBC, the GP does mean something... so does finishing out of the playoffs... does for me... I went feom GP finalist last season to dead last this season... if memory serves me correctly, it was Cannon and I that were in the final last season now we're the last 2 teams this year.. that'ts bullshit. Adding more insentive to the GP doesn't help cuz again, it keeps the top teams at the top and the botom teams at the bottom and no one really gets better or worse... every season and it's just same bottom teams duking it out to see who's gonna be last, meanwhile there's you, who'z never missed the GP once. You're always at the top and always up for GM of the Year, and you really don't do much with your team at all, while more than half of us struggle to even put a competitive team out there, let alone a winning one.

You and Cannon also have the most maxed out fighters in the league. Finishing last or winning the GP means nothing, really. It's an individual sport.
As for the "more excuses not to do something", make some suggestions (ideally in the suggestion box). I am all ears, and as I told GAP, I am not married to the current set up. I just have not heard anything better, and no one had a problem with it until now, 13 seasons later.

Don't speak for me bub... it's not that way for me at all... finishing last is a big deal for me.. I shoot for the GP every year and I spread my points out amongst all my fighters... D'Alelio was a bit different cuz she was to match Rousey... otherwise my points get spread around, unlike Cannon... and I get pissed off when I don't make the GP, so don't tell me finishing last means nothing to me, cuz you obviously have no clue on this one man...

I think I'm mostly upset about this card... Cause I don't think my team will continue to be competitive...

I think I'm mostly upset about this card... Cause I don't think my team will continue to be competitive... You've got a good team man... but as I said, it's usually just the same teams (Cannon, GAP, PHX FC, LBC and, to an extent, Ducks) that are basically waiting to see if they'll be last or on the outside looking in; it's rare that you see Ferocity or WC KOs down amongst the bottom teams.
