Most surprising fighter of the year?
Select One
Forrest Griffin (8-2) - Upgraded his record to 8-2 this season - On a 6 fight win streak - Upset Brock Lesnar to win Heavyweight Championship
Stephan Bonnar (6-4) - After going 1-4, came back to win 5 straight - Upset over Machida to gain #1 contendership
Cung Le (4-0) - Basically an afterthought, Le has won 4 straight - Devastating wins over Leben, Okami, Newton, and Sakuraba - Middleweight #1 contender
Mirko Cro Cop (6-7) - After an amazing first season, Cro Cop fell apart. - With losses to Kimbo Slice and Houston Alexander, Cro Cop fell out of contendership picture FAST. - Went a devastating 1-5 this season
Sam Stout (5-5) - Though his record may not reflect it, Stout had a great season - Key upset wins over BJ Penn, Gray Maynard and Miguel Torres in LW tournament

Bonnar was the biggest shock to me. Griffin was a champion before, he is again, but Bonnar came seemingly out of nowhere and is a legitimate battler.

I am torn. Bonnar was a total chump at first (and in real life) and turned that around, but Griffin turned his entire career around in one season, ultimately winning the damned belt! hmmmmm. unsure.
