Anyone object to allowing the SuperFight Champion to participate in the GP, with his title on the line every time he fights?
Traditional champions are not allowed because those #1 contender fights must be earned, but I figure since the SuperFight belt is a challenge-based belt, it really affects nothing if the belt is in the line in any fight he is in. Might make for some interesting title changes, point payouts, and unexpected champions. I also like that it makes the holder of the SF champion think twice about putting him in the Grand Prix, since he could lose his title in the process.
It becomes another strategic-risk assessment situation, which is always fun and engaging as well.

Then the fighter continues on, but the belt stays with whomever beat him. So next SUperfight title defence would be with the new champ (the guy on the team who got eliminated). The belt would always follow the same lineage. You beat the champ, you are the champ. And regarding the belt switching too many times, the most it could hypothetically switch hands is, what, 3 times in one GP? 3 different teams get points? Not that big of a deal, since no one team would get all 3 points.

The other thing I think is exciting is since all GP fights are confidential before hand, you could have a guy fighting for a belt in the first round of the GP and not even know it until the fights were announced, haha. Pretty neat. And it's not like he would be punished for losing, since the SuperFight belt is a challenge belt - he could still challenge again the next season.

Yes, 7 fights, times 4 brackets, that's 28 fights on the first card of the Grand Prix. Way too much.

Doesn't having a champion in the GP give that team and advantage to win the gp?

If the champion is good, in theory, yes. So the question comes down to a trade-off of the opportunity to win a belt during the GP vs. the "advantage" of having a champion in the GP.

I say no... I'm with GAP on this. It gives you, The Sandmen, an advantage in the GP since it's already been shown that no one can beat Johnson now, even heavily upgraded fighters. You have enough good fighters on your team and have won enough GPs already that you don't need to circumvent yet another rule on this site to use to your own advantage. You made the rules for a reason Justin... and it's only when they suddenly don't suit YOU that you'll bend, break or change them. I could really care less if an extra point could be up for grabs in the GP or not cuz allowing this virtually guarantees you atleast one win per round in the OW category which could be the difference in any round as to whether you advance or not. Champions aren't eligible for the GP. Period. You wanted the SuperFight Championship and now that YOUR fighter is the champion, you suddenly want him in the GP and are masking it with the lure of a "possible a point up for grabs" when everyone already knows Rumble is virtually unbeatable right now. I'm also absolutely dead certain that if anyone else had the belt, you wouldn't even be considering it if someone else suggested it. So, no... Rumble's a champion, he's out of the GP as per the site rules. End of story, as far as I'm concerned.

The SuperFight title is still a recognized title here, and should be viewed the same way as any other title. This means that the champion can't compete, even if it's an openweight title and anyone can win it. Now, I'm not completely seeing it as 'Sandmen wants to use Johnson as an advantage', but considering that Rumble is pretty damn beastly right now, I have to vote that he can't compete as long as he has the title around his waist. Point up for grabs or not, it's still unfair to put any champion in the GP.

xx - Former Phoenix Fight Club, "My guy" still has a fight left before the GP - we don;t know who the SuperFight champion will be going into the GP any more then any other potential champion. And I seem to recall your list had a lot of "if this guy wins the belt, then ___", thus confirming you also believe that no current champion is a sure thing for GP. I couldn't care less about winning a GP, or using Johnson to "cheat". I just like when titles are defended. Gives fights more meaning. GP is a huge burden, but every year people keep voting they want to keep it. This is one less thing that would make me dread simming the GP.

And I seem to recall your list had a lot of "if this guy wins the belt, then ___", thus confirming you also believe that no current champion is a sure thing for GP. Me giving you a list based on what could happen in title fights has nothing to with thinking anything is a sure thing or not... It was simply just a "just in case" because both Lesnar & Cruz have the capability to become champion, whereas Rumble's given little indication that he's losing that title any time soon, barring a fluke or a flash KO. Better fighters than he is have stepped up and failed... I couldn't care less about winning a GP, or using Johnson to "cheat". I just like when titles are defended. Gives fights more meaning. GP is a huge burden, but every year people keep voting they want to keep it. This is one less thing that would make me dread simming the GP. Really? Then why even suggest it at all? You made the rule that champions are in eligible for the GP because it's unfair to the rest of the league. You then further extended that to the SF championship, for that very reason. Now it's just simply ok cuz basically "I don't wanna sim the GP. It's such a burden". Why do you even bother suggesting things anymore when you're just going to do them anyways regardless Justin? You've got 3 people that have spoken out against this already... Is that going to get ignored too? ...probably, cuz "Justin said so.". Not all your ideas are brilliant man... You wanna single me out because I pointed out the glaringly obvious, go ahead... but having a title being defended in the GP is really of no interest to me; winning the GP is what interests me and what should interest folks involved in the GP... but I guess when you win the GP nearly every year anyways, I guess I can see how that would make it boring for someone like yourself.

i see what phx and underdogs are sayin an i agree with them. it helps sandmen here but i don think thas why its suggested an i don't really care to be honest.
i come form my teams perspective and my team is this - i don hav a deep team like sandmen or phx so when bas beats Johnson i want him in the gp cause i don have the depth to cover him. i shoul be punished for having a shallow team when guys like sandmen and phx have deep teams to have champs contenders belts when i don't. the idea of the belt changing hands is neat too but i care more about how shallow teams like the inactive team ones could use the extra guy and its a challenge belt anyways not a tournament belt so its alreadt different
