That's why starting it up again made no sense when we last looked at it. It's not like MMA where we could expand or shrink teams easily, and people like to hate on us for anything we do in the NHL sim site world, so we did discuss it, but it's a lot of work to just get yelled at every day, accused of being corrupt, biased, whatever the fuck else, etc, just to have a league of 12 angry men. All work and no play, type thing.

The only person that really called you corrupt was Kruze so just don't let him back. You'd have more people than 12 now cause every bodies desperate for a new league.

if you only thought it was kruze you werent paying attention. im not going to talk badly about other people, but there were those who were dedicated to a specific person, and others who liked us that eventually came to manmma because you guys didnt think we were cunts who were out to get you. as you can see, not a lot of those people didnt think we were cunts lol but yeah, to sim easier, i used UHS, literally because i could just copy and paste the results very easily, but the system wasnt the greatest but hey it worked. but because it wasnt EA, it was a constant battle for people to even be active. so essentially, justin and i came up with the idea of something cool, and then other people took those ideas, used them for their sites, would sim like maybe a season or two, die and then start over. we would push through it, and get yelled at because it wasnt perfectly acceptable as realistic... it was a game... so now i enjoy playing nhl on my playstation. if you guys want to have a little PS league, ill do that, but that;s about it. But I will say this - I appreciate your enthusiasm for wanting it again. They were fun times with you guys. Id rather remember it all like that. And thanks for continuing to hang with us here on ManMMA. You guys rock.

Yeah, and I think the biggest thing people don't see is the amount of pre-planning and dedication we put into the sim sites. We hammered out those cool ideas for hours, sifted through ways to make things work, the "what do we do if";s etc. For PRing, I even developed several Excel and math formulas to keep everything clean and level. It's A LOT to put that much work into a site just to be told people don't score enough, people score too much, players want too much, players want too little, the owner is unrealistic, if I get fired I quit, if I don't get hired by ___ i quit, etc , etc. It becomes REALLY draining - I don't even know if words can describe how draining. Even when people don;t MEAN to complain, the comments still hurt. We tinkered with UHS for literally hours trying to make it so defencemen didn't score 70 goals a season and league leaders got more than 77 points, and despite our efforts, it never worked out. We would know, time and again, we could not get what we were looking for, but it still hurts having half the league say "Man, it really sucks that ___ sucks or only our D score" or what have you. Every day. Takes its toll.

I lost interest in this, simply because of how grueling the process was on my own, but I had legitimate considerations for making an NBA league, using the NBA 2k16 system. One of their game modes had an 80 year franchise mode where I could control all 30 teams and it could work very similar to both the system used for the EA leagues and the Justin/Mike Formula (as I love to call it now-a-days).
The problems I faced were a few things - the biggest being the contracts. So many contracts have those back end deals where they progressively make more money, so doing cap space work would be a significant bitch.
Also, I threw this out somewhere back in April, and I got some general interest, but I still didn't think that I could fill all 30 teams.
I also thought of ideas about relocations, progression (since it would be automatic, and giving teams development points would be just extra, especially for young guys who could get as high as a +5 upgrade in one season), the impact of staff (and if I needed to make a staff page for each team), etc. It just seemed like a lot of work for just one person, so I canned the idea. I am, though, thinking of doing it if I can get enough support and help along the way creating the site, getting the rosters settled and working out the deal with salaries and staff. This would of course have to carry over onto NBA 2K17, pending if Franchise mode still is the same.
If you want to talk more in-depth about this whole thing, you know where to find me. I know I have some interest in it, but I just feel like right now might be either an extremely good time or it would just fall on its head for being too complex compared to the EA leagues.

Man, I missed 2K NHL games so much that I went out and re-bought 2k8 just so I could sit there and build a team through fantasy draft, modify player names and shit if I wanted to, and just let the game play itself out. Simming while managing like 3 or 4 teams on 2K games was simple and you could do like 15 seasons in a night, and just see if they could win the cup, trade, draft, etc. was a blast.

Al MacInnis, Chara and Weber are 1 and 2 for all-time hardest slapshots.
