Correct. That line of thinking is actually where my feminist beliefs started. You left out all the legal/criminal shit, like the difference in sentencing when men commit a crime vs. women committing the same crime. Or sexual assault - like the Bobbitt case becoming an international joke (Just imagine if a man had cut out a woman's clitoris - think there's be jokes about that?). Or family law. Essentially, mothers get custody of their children unless fathers can prove the mother is unfit. I did a paper on this for law in high school. There was even a case where a woman tried to kill her husband, was convicted of attempted murder, and when all was said and done, they got their divorce, etc, he had to pay her alimony. It's a double-edged sword, equality. |

When men say things like "yeah, well we have to pay more in car insurance" I want to scream. Statistically men are at a certain age more reckless drivers and therefore pay more... That's not where the problem lies. The problem is that we raise and teach young men to make high risk high reward decisions, while we teach young women to be cautious and safe- this effects their driving but is really the most insignificant result of a trend that leads to men getting the best things in life (which almost always require high risk) while women are accepting middle of the road safe opportunities.
Feminism is about recognizing that by systematically treating people differently based solely on whether or not they have a penis limits the potential for human growth and development.

The reason I have a problem with feminism, isn't because of the definition or meaning behind it. I have a problem with it because all the "feminists" at my school are like anti men. They get upset when a man accomplishes anything, and just talk shit about how a woman could do it better. Those people are not feminists. They might claim they are, but I cannot claim to be an atheist and believe in God. There are core beliefs that accompany any label or classification, and if you lack them, you do not fit under that umbrella definition, regardless of how you self-identify. You can hate those people at your school for their beliefs - sure, go nuts. But they are not practising feminists, and do not represent feminism. |

I actually heard a really interesting theory on why men are funnier than women.
Basically it said that since boys are programmed from a young age to conceal and hide their feelings and emotions, they develop a more complex way of dealing with it, and one of those ways is comedy. When girls are brought up, they are allowed to cry and express themselves emotionally. Boys and men are not, and in need of an outlet, they turn to humour, since that is a socially acceptable outlet for male feelings. This is why we tend to joke about things that are dark, or taboo and why men may have more jokes about topics people find not politically correct or hurtful, such as rape, racism, sexism, murder, inequality, etc.
That's one theory I have heard, at least. I found it very interesting.
