Grand Prix is a pretty big season-ending tournament. But there have been a couple small criticisms of it. People lose winning streaks for "nothing" (no title or contender fights type thing), people risk injury and lose a guy for half a season, it takes almost a week, etc. And it can seriously change the draft order, since a mediocre team can win the Grand Prix and get a last-pick (moving that team from possibly 4th overall, to 11th overall). Some have also said it undercuts the power of Zenith as our "season-ending Big Show"
But for some, the payoff is great. Winner gets points; get's to be considered the "winner of the season", bragging rights, etc. Plus is something unique that we do.
I guess my core question for you is, is Grand Prix worth it? So here's the poll question
What do you want to do with Grand Prix this year, and going forward?
Option 1: Keep it as it is. The winner of Grand Prix getting points and being crowned ManMMA Season Champion, with the top 8 teams entering the GP tournament and the bottom teams taking the first draft picks. This is what we have been doing. GP takes a little under a week.
Option 2: Abolish Grand Prix and replace it with nothing. At the end of ManMMA Zenith, we post the draft order (based on win-loss ratio - same as GP order is determined) and draft accordingly. This would speed things up between seasons the most.
Option 3: Abolish Grand Prix but replace it with a season-ending Manager's League tournament, with the winner of THAT being crowned season winner (and given an old-school-UFC-style trophy). Well toss in a nice prestigious thread or something with ML season winners and stuff too, or something.
