Preamble
Here's the thing, guys...I don't want to remove you from the site. I want you to be here, but I don't want you ruining the site for everyone else. I'm an incredibly lenient fellow here. I know some of you like to push that, or you like to push things because we're BFFs in real life, but I have put a lot of time and effort into this site for several years (since 2012), and you need to respect that if you want to be here. Friends and foes alike.
Strikes
Here's how my lenient-as-hell strike system works.
Step 1: Warning - If you break a rule because you are an idiot or had a child-like accident, I might give you a warning. Sometimes, when I am in good moods, I will give you separate warnings for separate offences. Don't take them lightly.
Step 2): Strike - With or without warnings, you can get a strike. If you repeatedly do something you were asked not to do, you will get a strike.
Step 3: Ban - Temporary or permanent, it depends on the offence and how often you have committed it, or got on people's nerves with similar shit. i.e. if all of your strikes/warnings come from being a troll, you will likely get a permanent ban. If you are just an annoying little shit who occasionally needs a break from the site, you might get a temporary one. Most bans are permanent ones. Temporary bans have been issued in the past for things like members being asked to stop arguing about a topic, and they continue anyway. Minor things, that just require a time-out, basically.
General Conduct
As a general rule of thumb, don't be a dick. If you do things to try to make other people's experiences here less enjoyable, you may be subject to strikes, warnings, or point-fines at The Sandmen's discretion. We want this to be a place people want to be, and are happy being. If you are making people unhappy being here, you become expendable. With or without warnings/strikes.
Proboards
Remember, this is a Proboards site first and foremost. They have more control here than I do. They have their own set of Rules and Terms of Service (review them here). Please also review Proboards Community Guidelines, since it's entirely possible those apply here too. If Proboards removes you from this site, or Proboards in general, I cannot get you back.
Prejudice
Absolutely no Racism, or other prejudicial slurs are allowed on the board. This includes calling people "fags" or calling other inanimate objects "gay". This also extends to Islamophobia, or anti-Mexican rhetoric. I do not care what your President, or the leader of your Klan tells you. Freedom of Speech does not extend to racism.
Spam
For the purposes of this site, we consider spam to be defined as the posting of ANY unwanted, uninvited sites, particularly other sim leagues. If you want to be affiliated with this site, PM The Sandmen. We do affiliations.
Arguments
If you disagree with something or get into an argument, we ask that as soon as it turns into name-calling, you take it to Trash Talk, and have it out there. We do NOT want our threads full of bickering, so keep it confined to the Trash Talk thread. No one does this, but we ask it anyways.
Also, if someone says you are/have gone too far in an argument, STOP. After that, it becomes harassment, and WILL NOT BE TOLERATED. Strikes will be issues for continued harassment. Sending threats or insults that are offensive to people's inbox also falls under this and are also taken very seriously. If this happens to you, don't be afraid to report it to staff.
Profanity
ManMMA allows profanity. Proboards technically does not. So...use your own discretion....if Proboards bans you, there is nothing we can do. But they won't .
Spoilers
First, let's define spoilers. For the purposes of ManMMA, spoilers are absolutely any piece of information that reveals something that did or may happen. Major news events, like who wins an election, are exempt, but ALL sporting events, movies, shows, video games, etc. are included here. This definition extends to pretending to spoil something, or falsely claiming something happened in an event or movie. Even if it is not an actual spoiler, it still ruins the experience of a first-time watcher and will not be tolerated here.
Now, more specifics:
- Under absolutely no circumstances are spoilers of any kind allowed in the Shoutbox.
- Tagging someone in a spoiler post in an attempt to spoil things for them is not acceptable and will result in action being taken.
- Spoilers are only permitted in threads if:
1) The topic of the thread reasonably implies there will be (i.e. A thread titled "Game of Thrones" should be assumed to have Game of Thrones Spoilers in it. That is a reasonable assumption. IF a thread is titled "Game of Thrones - NO SPOILERS" or otherwise indicates spoilers are unwelcome, then SPOILERS ARE UNWELCOME and strikes or point-fines will be dished out).
2) The thread clearly indicates there are spoilers (i.e. WWE (spoilers) )
This extends to real life sports events, movies, books, games, wrestling, etc. Absolutely no spoilers. Not even common sense ones. I don't care if a movie is called "John Dies at the End". If you announce in the shoutbox that John died at the end, we still count that as spoilers. You will get a major strike for spoiling thingss. Any and all things.
Posting off-topic spoilers just to be a dick will get you a combination of a point-fine and a strike.
The Team and Roster Pages
The team and roster pages you make and maintain in your team boards are essentially the property of the team the boards belong to. At any point in time if you want something deleted from there, do not hesitate to PM me and I will get on that at my next available convenience. If someone asks you to stop posting trash in their team thread, please respect their wishes, because it will be me you are trolling in the end, not them (as I will have to run around deleting a bunch of posts by you trolly jackasses).
That said...with this information in mind, knowing that you have the power to have shit deleted off your page any time you want, I'd recommend people take any trolling, joking, ribbing, ball-busting, etc. within those threads with a grain of salt, and a bit of tolerance. When someone says something legit funny (like your fighter's grin looks like the joker) consider giving it a day or two of hilarious glory before requesting a delete...cause that shit is funny and its good for the league to have fun sometimes.
Dumbasses
Okay, guys, let's be grown-ups here. If someone is a dumbass, try to be patient with them, cause when it comes right down to it, we're all dumbasses at something and it really helps if people are patient with dumbasses. If you encounter a dumbass, as I said, just try to help them as best you can, rather than calling them names. That'll just keep everything around here a bit more friendly.
And if you ARE a dumbass, just remember that if people call you names, don't take it personally, and try to laugh it off or ignore it and do your best. People like being jerks, and people will always BE jerks.
Double-Posting
Please refrain from double-posting. The only time this is okay is when you are making a 100% different point, about a 100% different idea and not adding to your previous one. Instead of posting another message, which consumes valuable real estate, just modify your previous post!
Activity Consistency
Try to check in every few days. If you miss 4 consecutive events, your fight team might be absolved, or given to someone else. Stick around to maintain your bragging rights as you work your way up to the title!
Roster Pages
Everyone has a team thread in the Fight Teams section of this site. Your team board is YOUR SPACE. You can do what you want with it (within the rules of ManMMA of course). If someone posts something you do not like or want present on your Roster page, or in your Team Board, you can have it deleted. The easiest option for you is to click the gear (beside "Quote")on the post you want removed and select "Report Post" (and fill in the box saying "please delete"). You can also PM The Sandmen to have posts deleted as well, but please provide a link to the post you want deleted.
Please note: you can delete your own posts at any time, and no administrative action is needed.
Sigs
Because some poor bastards have limited bandwidth/month, we're adding a 2-sig MAX limit to the site. And keep their size reasonable. They take up valuable real estate! If you fail to do this, a staff member will take away a random one. Or all of them.
Family Members/Shared Computer
If a family member or friend shares your computer and intends to join the league, please inform staff before hand. The matching IP addresses can cause problems, as can similar email addresses.
Temporary Suspensions
Usually these happen when a member has been asked to stop doing something specific and they continue to do it after they have been asked by staff to stop. If a staff member feels the need to remove you from the site for being disobedient, offensive, or otherwise problematic, you may receive a temporary suspension. Unless you are told otherwise, it WILL be temporary, so please just take the time calm down, and adjust your behaviour for when you return.
Conflict Resolution Procedure
If someone is being offensive, particularly in light of one of the rules below, please follow the following conflict-resolution procedure.
Step 1) Deal with the Person/problem directly. PM them privately and ask them politely to stop. If a particular subject is sensitive to you, please let them know to leave that specific area alone. Make clear what they have done to cross the line with you. If you receive a PM of this nature, TAKE IT SERIOUSLY. As much as trolling may be entertaining, perpetually offending people or harping on a topic that is too close to home for someone is not okay.
Step 2) Escalating the Issue to Administration. If you are not getting anywhere with the person directly, forward your PM-conversation to The Sandmen explaining the problem. The Sandmen will do everything in his power to deal with this issue. It will be dealt with privately, and sometimes takes time. I ask that if this stage comes about, you be patient, ignore the individual on-site where possible (replying ad infinitum makes it much worse, as trolls thrive on this), and let The Sandmen deal with it.
Step 3) Follow-Up with Administration. If the problem persists, contact The Sandmen directly with details on the when, where, etc. and more drastic measures may be taken. If you are being trolled by the same person about a subject different then the line you asked them not to cross previously, please try step 1. People are usually reasonable and respect lines and personal boundaries. If not, they are probably not the type of members we want here, and will be dealt with in this step accordingly anyways.
