Currently, the order of the draft is determined by the Grand Prix (just like NHL playoffs - the team that wins it all gets last pick, etc).
After thinking about it, I think we should consider changing the draft order to simply be based on season standings, rather than Grand Prix performance. This would accomplish two huge things:
1) Fairer draft order - your season performance is much more indicative of the quality of your overall team than Grand Prix performance. Since champions cannot participate in Grand Prix, we have seen some of the best teams get eliminated early (thus get a higher draft pick) than weaker teams who had their best fighters fighting.
2) Faster Drafts - this is a big one for me. If we go by season standings, I can figure out and post the ENTIRE draft right now, before even starting to put the Grand Prix together. Though this rarely actually slows us down because of how the Grand Prix is paced, it is still a big factor. The draft could be posted today, and we could be done the entire draft in 3 days - possibly even before the Grand Prix is done.
Does anyone object/care if we do this? Or when we do it?
(If it matters to anyone, I posted this before tallying the season standings, so I have no idea where anyone is in the standings. I am probably going to go work on that right after finishing this post, but as of this post, I don't have the slightest clue who is where in the standings)

I have drafted people in awhile except last season or 2 season aago when I drafted 3 woman for 1 point however last season I came 2nd last in Zenith or whatever its called so my draft picks where later and I was 6th worst team in the league SO it would benefit me to have this implemented in the future getting better pick if I do decide to draft persons rather than points or trade however I think trade for a higher value draft should also be move valuable in a trade

I think we should go by season standings because the season standings show an overly view of how your team is while the Grand Prix only shows what teams are better when the Champions cannot fight.

I kind of like how the GP determines the remaining draft order. It's our year end event that's supposed to mean something. In my opinion, if we change it to a season standing senario to determine the draft order, it kind of diminishes the value and the interest in the GP in that the consolation for losing in the GP is a higher draft pick. Sounds to me like this is another senario where you're just going to do what you want anyways though based on the "Or when we do it" comment. So what does it matter?

I was listening to and valuing your opinion here until it turned whiney at the end. Then I stopped caring about everything you had me caring about in your previous sentences. Very unfortunate. You might want to work on that. (and don't just reply to this with more whining, you had your say, time to let others voice theirs) Anyone else?

In important threads like this, please refrain from post whoring. This contributed nothing to an important discussion.

whatever keeps thing smooth neither matters i think it only changes position a couple places if that don it??? whatevers easier i don think enough of a change happens with the gp standings and having champions means you team is better so it makes sense ot me to base standings on the team. like in hockey its not like crosby cannot play in the playtoffs but here the champ cant so its broken anyways i guess.

Thank you. Now I am not sure if this affects the difficulty of my jobs, but it should speed up the draft, which people generally like, no?

on one hand... i agree with phoenix as it pertains to diminishing value to gp... but on the other hand... i think basing it on season standings does make more sense.. hmmm i'll go with basing it on season standings

OBJECTION!
Since i finished in dead last, I should have the oppurtunity of having 5 straight picks in the first round.
