xx - Former Phoenix Fight Club has announced via their website this morning that they have released LW Ian 'Uncle Creepy' McCall (5-11). In the press release, Phoenix FC President & CEO Matt Kruze stated that "This wasn't an easy decision to make for us. Ian still has allot of potential to be something special in ManMMA, but his lack of consistency recently has been a cause for concern in the last 2 seasons and we felt that a change of scenery for him and parting ways at this time was the best thing for both parties. Phoenix Fight Club wishes him all the best in his future endeavors."
In the same release, it was also announced that the fight team has signed none other than recently released RocketMen fighter MW Patrick 'The Predator' Cote (9-11), adding more "Canadian Content" to the Western Canadian franchise. "We are extremely excited to welcome Patrick 'The Predator' Cote to the Phoenix FC family. We've had our eye on this guy for a while and we are so happy that he was made available and wanted to come back to ManMMA under our banner and adding more to the Canadian contingent we've tried to create here at Phoenix Fight Club. We were looking at a couple of different options, but in the end, we're hoping that Patrick's performance with the RocketMen last season was just an enigma and that he gives of the best chance of success right now and he'll continue to be a force to be reckoned with in the Middleweight division here in ManMMA."
So, Phoenix FC adds another impressive Middleweight to an already strong Middleweight contingent with the signing of Matt 'The Terror' Serra this off season and the drafting of Nate 'Rock' Quarry at this season's draft. When you couple that with former ManMMA MW Champion Rich 'Ace' Franklin and a supporting cast of Jason 'The Athlete' MacDonald, Dan 'The Outlaw' Hardy & Martin 'The Hitman' Kampmann, it's hard to fathom that Phoenix FC doesn't have one of the strongest, if not the strongest, contingent of Middleweights in ManMMA; especially with today's addition of Cote to the fold. Time will tell whether these moves will pay the dividends the team is seeking or if it'll just be more of the same for Phoenix Fight Club, but with names and talent like this in your organization, it's hard to think that Phoenix Fight Club will be anything but a contender moving forward.
