Okay, sorry we're late. Let's get to it.
The good:
The main event. We had the resurgence of a legit champion, as well as the coming-out party for a new serious powerhouse in the lightweight division. Chandler showed he is absolutely good enough and tough enough to hang with the top 5 in the Lightweight division now, and has made a wonderful turnaround since joining
The Rocketmen. Great work from him tonight.
Also, a huge props on a big night of upsets. From Lauren Murphy, of @kadri43, to Alexander Gustafsson of
xx - Former Phoenix Fight Club, to nearly Houston Alexander, of @canucks44, we had some doozies. It's always great when the underdogs show up in full force.
Now, the bad - fighter performance breakdown. (You know, The FiD thing)
Evan Tanner (7-16) - Having won just 1 fight in his last 11, we've got to keep on eye on Tanner. If he can keep stringing together wins and decent performances like tonights, we'd be happy to take him off the radar. FiD? No. Radar? Yes.
Martin Kampmann (17-20) - With the Alexander Shlemenko fight, Kampmann was given a significantly lower level opponent and fell dramatically short of expectations. Being that he's on a 5 fight losing streak, we're forced to add him to the Fighters in Danger list at this time. We expect him to fight his way off shortly and buck this trend.
Matt Serra (5-16) - Matt's had a rough go in his last...many fights. Upon re-entering the league, he's gone 0-3 and having just lost to a fellow "loser" in Tanner (10 fight losing streak), we've got to keep an eye on Serra now, and hope he can start putting some pieces together. He has the skills, he just might need a little help from his team, whether that be training camp or upgrades. We just need to see something here.
Oleg Taktarov (4-7) - Having lost his last 3 fights, Taktarov is running short of time to re-prove himself here. He's now on our radar, and his performance will be evaluated very closly following his next fight.
Sarah D'Alelio (11-15) - We're disappointed in her. Sarah's on a 4 fight losing streak, with 2 of her last 3 fights being against lower-tier competition. We need to see better from her, and are forced to lower her competition yet again. She's not in danger, but should she continue to fall short of even the most basic of competition, she might show up on our "oh-oh" radar.
Jose Aldo (31-24) - He's Jose Aldo. He has a very good record. Sure, he is on a 3 fight losing streak, but unless he absolutely tanks in his next fight, he's not someone who is in a position to be put in danger at this time.
Cat Zingano (11-18) - After some consideration, we've decided we're forced to add Cat to the Fighters in Danger list. Sitting on a 5 fight losing streak, with some of those losses coming to low, low-tier fighters (Herrig, VanZant), we need to see some improvement form her moving forward.
Jeremy Stephens (10-14) - Jeremy is sitting on a 4 fight losing streak. We've got to start looking closer at this guy's performances. That said, his last 2 losses have come to Gilbert Melendez and BJ Penn, arguably 2 of the best pound for pound fighters of all time. Radar for Jeremy. Hope to see some improvements.
And we'll leave it there for now. Any questions?
