I would really like to permanently ban 2 fighters from ManMMA competition for their criminal actions in the real world. Since this action is rather dramatic, I'm polling it for the community to decide. The two fighters are:
1) Jon "War Machine" Koppenhaver
Reason for Ban-vote: Convicted of several assault charges from 2007-2010. In 2014, Koppenhaver severely assaulted his ex-girlfriend. She suffered from 18 broken bones, a broken nose, missing teeth, a fractured rib and a ruptured liver. He also allegedly raped her. He is currently facing 32 felony charges, including attempted murder, sexual assault, battery, coercion and lewdness. He attempted to hang himself in prison, but failed.
Notable MMA Accomplishments: He has no notable MMA accomplishments, other than competing on a season of The Ultimate Fighter (and losing), and competing in a Bellator tournament (and losing).
2) Thiago Silva
Reason for Ban-vote: Threatened to shoot 25 people inside a gym, including his estranged wife. The day before, She called police on Thiago for violating a temporary protection order. That day, he also sent her a text message saying he would hire someone to kill her, and move his girlfriend into their house. After the incident, Silva fled to his nearby home where he barricaded himself inside and a police stanf-off ensued. A SWAT team removed him from his residence after tasing him. He was charged with two counts of attempted murder, aggravated battery with a deadly weapon and non-violently resisting an officer. He has also failed 2 UFC drug tests, the first of which was for submitting urine (to be tested) that was "inconsistent with that of a human being"
Notable MMA Accomplishments: He has no notable MMA accomplishments, other than wins over Keith Jardine, Houston Alexander, and Matt Hamill. He had a win over Brandon Vera overturned due to failing a drug test. He has not fought for any titles, nor been in any notable title contender position in his MMA career.
Additional notes: Currently, neither fighter is on a ManMMA team. Jon never has been, and Thiago was recently released from one. Thiago has fought here, and has a 5-7 record. Furthermore, I guess this isn't really "permanent" since everything on ManMMA is open to review and reconsideration, but until that time they would be banned.
