This was a crazy-good fight, and quite unlike most other fights I have simmed. About 4 years ago, ManMMA'ers realized that stamina was important and most guys have decent stamina now. But back in the early days, we woudl see things like this - Chieck was doing well (not dominating, but probably winning). Then he became notably tired, and though his attacks had power, he was unable to maintain the offence, and Guy kept getting back into things. Kongo probably won rounds 1 and 2, then things became totally, 100% even (in terms of momentum, total fight damage, etc) about half way through. If the trends continued, I was sure we would have to deal with a draw. And they kinda did. 4th was Kongo strong damage but only for a short time, then followed by Guy doing consistent damage, but smaller bursts of it. Round 5, Guy had much more left than Kongo and did a lot of small damages that added up. He probably earned the win here, but this was a very close, interesting, exciting fight, unlike stuff we will see in ManMMA anymore.
I kinda miss those days, and if I were to ever reboot ManMMA, I would make skills have increasing costs (i.e. an upgrade costs 1 point until its at around 15, then 2 points per upgrade until its at 17, then 3 points, 4, points, then 5 points to cap a skill). I think we would see more exciting fights like this one if we did that, and I think, in retrospect, all around it would have been a really good, clever move. Meh well, you learn a lot in 5 years.

This was a crazy-good fight, and quite unlike most other fights I have simmed. About 4 years ago, ManMMA'ers realized that stamina was important and most guys have decent stamina now. But back in the early days, we woudl see things like this - Chieck was doing well (not dominating, but probably winning). Then he became notably tired, and though his attacks had power, he was unable to maintain the offence, and Guy kept getting back into things. Kongo probably won rounds 1 and 2, then things became totally, 100% even (in terms of momentum, total fight damage, etc) about half way through. If the trends continued, I was sure we would have to deal with a draw. And they kinda did. 4th was Kongo strong damage but only for a short time, then followed by Guy doing consistent damage, but smaller bursts of it. Round 5, Guy had much more left than Kongo and did a lot of small damages that added up. He probably earned the win here, but this was a very close, interesting, exciting fight, unlike stuff we will see in ManMMA anymore.
I kinda miss those days, and if I were to ever reboot ManMMA, I would make skills have increasing costs (i.e. an upgrade costs 1 point until its at around 15, then 2 points per upgrade until its at 17, then 3 points, 4, points, then 5 points to cap a skill). I think we would see more exciting fights like this one if we did that, and I think, in retrospect, all around it would have been a really good, clever move. Meh well, you learn a lot in 5 years.
