We see this in the UFC quite a bit. fighters will drop/rise a weight class to get a fight they want or for fresh faces. Can we incorporate that here? Obviously there are a few rules; 1. Fighters gain only rise/gain 1 class from their original weightclass. Therefore, Middleweights have a choice, while Heavyweights and lightweights can only becomes middleweights. 2. Obviously Featherweights can not go into any other class (although it would be cool to see Carano vs some like Anderson Silva

The problem here is, yes, we have 3 weight classes, but those weight classes comprise of real-life LHW and HW (for HW for example). So I think it would really hurt the league if Brock Lesnar fought at Middleweight, cause, let's face it, it's fucking retarded.
Same with Anderson Silva or Dan Henderson (MWs in our league) dropping down to LW.
When I did the weight classes I put people in the lowest weight class they fought in. ANderson Silva and Dan Henderson, for example, could have been in HW or MW. Same with BJ (LW or MW). So I think moving THOSE guys UP a weight class is fine, though kinda pointless, but when it comes to making Brock Lesnar or Junior dos Santos fight a MW, it get's kind of crazy.

I have been sort of trying to think of a way we can make this work though, but it all keeps coming back to the logistics above. Not only that, and no one knows this, but permanently switching weight classes for guys is a GIANT pain in the ass in the simulator, because its glitchy.
BUT, that said, if both guys/teams agree to a CATCHWEIGHT fight, you can do your suggestion for a 1-off fight at catchweight. It's not as silly having a catchweight bout between Lesnar and a MW. But having Lesnar walk around the MW division is too much.

You're going to an extreme there, Justin, but I see your point, though there is no way in hell logistically that Lesnar could drop weight to become a MW, and I get that... but if there are border line fighters, for example my guy, Jordan Mein, dropping to LW, that could feasibly drop or gain the weight to make the weight class, you may not have to drop the weight in the game... if you're saying you can have the catchweight matches...
I can see the dilemma, just trying to think of a solution too... lol

I don't think one-off catch-weights are a bad thing at all. Obviously Lesnar is an extreme, but there are about 40 HWs his size, and if we do it with one guy (like Forrest Griffin), its unfair to say no to guys who want to drop Lesnar down. One-off catchweight fights resolve that. You still get the mobility to fight anyone within one weight class, but you don't have Brock fucking Lesnar as the MW champion.

I don't necessarily see why people would do that, but I guess. As I said though, the payoff would probably be very minimal in comparison to a catch-weight fight. And permanently moving weight classes is a pain in the ass. Do people often find they DESPERATELY want their LWs fighting at MW, or MWs fighting at HW?

I gotta say though that I don't really want to move anyone... the classes are all really deep, but if we get someone who is destroying an entire weight class and can't be bumped off the title, I think this would be a good way not to let things get stale.
