Started a new thread to keep this cleaner, because lots of stuff got mixed in the old discussion thread.
We decided to move forward with the new weightclass structure. They will look like this:
Part 1: New Weight classes
The point of the new weight classes is to have people fighting in a weight class that most accurately simulates their natural, real life weight. As such, we're going to be a little tighter on fighters moving down in weight class, and likely only allow downward weight class moves for fighters who have been just as successful in a lighter weight class as they have a heavier one. For example, BJ Penn cannot fight at Atomweight, even though he has 3 featherweight fights, because he lost them all - but Daniel Cormier can fight at HW or MW, since he has won titles in both weight classes. That sort of thing.
If one of your fighters listed below has fought in, and had equal success in a weight class other than the one they are listed in, please submit your request for their weight class change below, in this thread as well.
Which leads us to this. At present, 9 teams have less than 2 fighters in one or more of the new weight classes. When league numbers are looked at, this is something that can be solved through trading, and I would strongly encourage that route. However, since trading can take time, and that is not something we have a lot of at present, I'm going to throw a short, randomized draft in the mix as well. The teams who have less than 2 fighters in a weight class will be up, then everyone else, in case they want to flesh out their now-weak weight classes.
As of Feb. 26, 6:02pm EST, your weight class numbers look like this:
Part 2: Trades
Since trades are the objectively best route, to help encourage the facilitation of trades, I'm going to give teams that make trades that fill these weightclass holes 2 points each. When you post these trades, please tag me and mention they are weightclass-filling trades to ensure you get your bonus points.
Part 3: Draft
For this special draft, you can add a free agent, or draft a new fighter only in the weightclass you require a fighter in. The draft is up now, posted below, in this tread.
I have randomized a draft order, and based on needs, this is the result:
1. Lord Byron's Conquistadors (taking a MW) - Johnny Walker
2. The Killing Joke (taking a HW) - Stefan Struve
3. xx - Former Bulldozers (taking a MW) - Evan Tanner
4. xx - Team GAP (taking a AW) - Eddie Wineland
5. xx - Camp Cannon (taking a AW) - MIA
6. Sons of Anarchy (taking a AW) - Chan-Sung Jung
then, the open-draft teams
7. xx - Former Phoenix Fight Club - Martin F'N Kampmann
8. The Texas Rattlesnakes - Shahbulat Shamhalaev
9. The Sandmen - Dennis Siver
10. The Rocketmen - Zabit Magomedsharipov
If you are not on this list, and want to add a fighter, PM me with who you want to add, and your order of preference. I will do what I can to accommodate your requests.
For those on the above list, you must draft from the weightclass listed. If no one before you is drafting from the same weightclass as you, you may draft immediately. If you do not wish to add an additional fighter, please say so and you will be skipped immediately.
Part 4: Deadline
The goal is to do this as quickly and efficiently as possible. As such, I am putting a soft-deadline on this draft for around Wednesday. Please submit a list if someone is picking before you so we can keep things moving.
Part 5: Warning
Please stick to what is being asked of you in this thread. I have a lot of things I need to do, and good reasons for doing them when and how I must. There are also reasons for the short timeline on this change, and a reason for the timeline on the draft, etc. Please respect that and do NOT fill this thread with any other questions, complaints, or things that are not directly asked. The ONLY things that should be in this thread are draft pick selections and maybe weight class move suggestions. That is it. Anything else, please PM me so we can discuss it elsewhere. This is the only warning you will get before you are removed until this process is complete. Thank you for your cooperation.
