Okay, so I gave the current weight class names a try, and having to book GSP vs. Robbie Lawler at "Lightweight" bugged me way more than I thought it would. Also, the program became 10xs more confusing with the AW/LW/MW/HW classifications. So unless something dramatic comes up soon, ManMMA 449 will be the last event with these weightclass names. I wanted Atomweight to work, and it makes so much sense in a lot of ways, but the damned lightweights ruined it for everyone. So, mostly through tied hands and limited options within the program itself, I hope to announce this as the final weight class change (Again, the ONLY thing that changes here are the NAMES of the weight classes. The fighters and weights within each do NOT change). I toyed with "Light Heavyweight", which I prefer, but if you look up at the champion banner, there are too many words in "Light Heavyweight" to fit cleanly beside the champs face. So we went with Cruiserweight. I think this is the best I can do, but if you have another suggestion you think works better, post your thoughts here. Remember, this is not a change in weightclasses, ONLY names.  |

I dig the names. CW fits a lot better than LHW. Keeps everything at a nice 2 initial abbreviation.

I agree the weightclasses were needed but its a shame because the names before were prettymuch perfect and these new ones will take some getting used to no matter what they are I think. im pumped for the small guys tho I think that opens doors lots of them lws fighting at aw or whatever were big dudes who could do ww and shit so this is beter.

The weights are the same, the weight class is the only thing changing. |

Lets not call anyone welterweights Looking at the line-up, I don't think it would be that crazy to call the LW+WW division "Welterweight", since many of the LWs there have fought at WW IRL anyway (Benson Henderson, RDA, Pettis, Fergusson...pretty much everyone). |
