I was looking forward to this flick until I saw the trailer. I feel like every single thing in it made me really bored and sad that they are so fucking unable to do anything right after the second film.
What worked about 1 and 2 were the simplicity. Especially of the T-1000. Dude was liquid metal. Nuff said. Here, it's, what, some hybrid between liquid metal and machine for no reason? And it feels like we have Arnold and Linda Hamilton in there (which excited me), but they feel like add-ins, for the sole purpose of "look, this is nostalgia and thats cool, right?" fansturbation. I am disappointed.
But I will still see it, and possibly even in theatres. Who knows. Genisys was fun-garbage and I really enjoyed that. But I felt like this had the potential (on paper, before this trailer) to be more - like the first 2. Now it just looks like the same trashy action gibberish as 3 and 4.
But it's just a trailer. As I said, I will still see it, and now I have lowered expectations, so maybe I will even enjoy it. Fingers crossed.

I think what really fell off for me on 3, and again this is based on me not seeing anything beyond 3, is that they lost the "humanity" of it, in place of a sci-fi war of sorts.
T1 and T2 are incredible because the premise is insane: there's a fucking AI robot trying to murder you, and the world is oblivious so who do you go to for help? T1 plays off the ultimate stalker sci-fi with this process.
T2 is a fucking masterpiece. And it opens with the paranoia of that issue: who do you go to for help? Linda Hamilton is in a psych ward because they don't believe her. So it's a human story of "us against the world" and again, you're along for that ride with them. You have a far superior advanced crazy slasher AI attacking you and you're being defended by the very crazy slasher AI that wanted to kill you and put you in a psych ward. It's awesome.
T3 felt more robot vs robot rather than really digging into the human side of things, and felt a bit repetitious.
Then the next movie looked like just a war film, which is not what drew me into T2.
I haven't seen Genesys, and I haven't looked at this trailer yet.
But maybe T2 was just the right amount of great ideas, and since then it's become this sort of specific focus on the sci-fi war rather than the interesting character development. I mean, there was the threat of the war, but it was more about getting the chip than anything else.
And then there was the whole Terminator tv show...

I have not seen the show, but look forward to watching the show, as it has Lena Headey in it.
Has anyone seen the show?
