Every year, each team has 2 draft picks (a 1st round pick and a 2nd round pick). After the final card of each season, rankings are determined, and standings are posted. The draft order is determined from this, with the worst team that season picking first overall, and so on. The team that wins the Grand Prix gets the final pick of each round.
The first overall pick is worth 2 points. (It may also be used to add a fighter without giving up a fighter, as would be needed with any other draft pick). After the first pick, each pick is worth 1 point, and the following applies:
With your two picks, you may do one of 3 things (aside from trading it).
1) You may swap one of your current fighters for a new fighter (from the To Swap list, the To Draft list, or someone else of your choosing - as long as they have at least 1 pro MMA fight and are not already on another team*)
2) You may buy a new fighter with 2 points (without giving up one of your current fighters)
3) You may give up the draft pick for a point. (Or "draft" a point, however you want to word that).
*The draft is the only time you are able to bring brand new fighters into the league after you have created your team at sign-up.
Please note, the above draft options are what we generally stick to each season, but once in a while, league needs might dictate we need to alter it slightly. For instance, if fighter numbers become particularly low or something, we might do a round of "Add-a-Fighter" or some similar variation. In other words, the above structure is written in pen, but it is not set in stone.
