An MSNer proposed to me this tweak:
instead of simply 24 hours to make your pick, you have 24 hours to SIGN ON before being skipped. If you sign on while you are on the pick-clock, you have a maximum of 3 hours to make your selection.
Again, the goal here is not to punish, but to get people to make their picks. There isn't much reason to take a while to make your pick, since you can drop a pick for someone else any time after the draft is finished. And we only have 5 hours to get through.
So let's do this thing.
