Proposed Mini-Project

[The Sandmen]

I want to do something that will affect no one but myself, but want to make sure no one cares before I do.

I want to start a second team, a special concept team independent of my current one, but funded 100% with my own points from my Sandmen team. It's no different than if I were to add 4-6 players to my current team, except they would be their own team with their own team name and other commonalities.

The Second Team would NOT recieve/be eligible for:
- Holiday bonus points or other gift points
- New team bonus points (new GMs get 2 points to start their team)
- points if they win the Grand Prix
- Trades moving points to my Sandmen team.

The second team WOULD be eligible for:
- a point if a member won the title (to be spent within that team only, not my first team)
- the draft (drafting a fighter at the draft, or drafting a point at the draft)
- Camp skills. They would have their own Camp with unique skills and could send fighters to a camp.

The reasoning behind this suggested mini-project is that people have mentioned I earn too many points. If my points are spread out between 2 teams, my upgrades are spread WAY thinner. A pro for the league.

Pros:
- As I just said, more diversity in Sandmen's upgrades, making my current team weaker
- A few more fighters in the league that would not otherwise be there - thus more match up options and maybe some new fights/opponents
- something new, with new match-up options (since I try to avoid teams fighting themselves as much as possible)
- A new camp with new skills

Cons:
- Another possible team to compete in the Grand Prix
- Other people might want to do it too (I don't have a problem with that, to be honest, but if you cannot support a single team, a second might be an error, but we can discuss that on a team-by-team basis, or perhaps when a member reaches a certain belt)
- Any others you can think of? Post ideas, comments, questions, concerns below. I am sure there is something I have not thought of, so let's discuss it.

I would expect them to suck really bad. Especially at first. I think over 2-3 seasons, they would move into "average". It's more about the specific concept that interests me - the fighters for it would not be great nor interesting to me on their own merits.

I think you should have to pick which team will go into the GP.. instead of having 2 teams in the GP.. that would increase your chances of wining a GP. Other than that I can't think of a good reason at the moment to argue against it. My first point though would have to be sorted before I can say I won't argue.

if he gets no bonus for winning GP with his second team then why would it matter?

cause it would lower the chances of other people winning it.. even if you don't get gp winning points other people would like to win it.

But the thing there is my SECOND team would have to be good enough to beat everyone elses primary teams. What are the odds of that?

The only reason I am against the "pick one" is it actually makes things more complicated with standings. I guess also does that mean that if my new team where to make the GP I could swap in my Sandmen team with it? That seems more unfair.

And again, relating it back to just buying the fighters to begin with...if the team is good enough to make the GP on their own as my second team, they would obviously be good enough to help The Sandmen make the GP when mixed with my current team of Anderson, Gina, etc. so outside of complicating things more, I'm not sure much really changes. If you want to say only 1 of my 2 teams can be in the GP, though, I am fine with that, since that won't be an issue for many seasons.

2nd team uneligible for draft and draft points? predictions, also sandmen would be stealing the new unused good guys available for draft such as Justin Geathje

But really though, the new team has absolutely no advantage. As I said, the fighters would be BOUGHT with points or traded for with my current Sandmen assets. I would NOT be getting a "New team" of fighters.


But no, xx - Camp Cannon, in order to make the team a legit separate team, I would want them to be a part of standings. The only 2 reasons for having standings are Grand Prix and draft. If I cannot get Grand Prix points for winning (objectively I should be able to, but I am willing to make sacrifices), or if I cannot have both teams in the Grand Prix (Again, they should be able to be there if they earn it) then I would at least want to be able to draft new fighters with that team at the draft.

yes but youll be drafting either 4 ppl per draft or 4 point compared to peoples 2 point why not let everyone have a second team and ditch the whole new blood rising idea?

I already said if we allow this anyone else can take a second team, but it is a HUGE disadvantage. You are spreading your points out across 2 teams, and all of the fighters are still prone to FiD cuts, etc. The main purpose of the suggestion was for me to spend my points on other things giving other people a better opportuity to get good without feeling like I am a mile ahead of them.

In terms of the draft, for the benefit of 2 points per season (if the team chooses to draft points - I rarely do - the cost to buy the team of fighters would not balance out enough to make it a benefit for people. It would still be a major loss.

if you seperate your points gained by draft to each team.... im ok with it. meaning team sandmen would get 2 drafted fighters or 2 points and team ??? would get 2 drafted fighters or points to use... you would not be allowed to interchange your fighters or points gained in draft to you other team. wouldn't be fair.

That would seem unfair.. I was trying to keep it simple. If this gets complex.. I say no to this whole idea..

Yes, exactly. I would never be moving points from my New team to Sandmen. That is what I meant with this part:

Nothing would ever come from the new team to The Sandmen. I just want a sub-team of guys (kind of like thinking of The Sandmen as the WWE and my mini-team as D-X). I am looking to fund the new team almost entirely with my Sandmen points, and maybe at some point with what they draft - though I plan on swaps for a while). I would never be drafting 2 picks or points with the New Team then moving them to The Sandmen.
