Hellooooo Ladies.
So we had quite a night of fights tonight. Some predictable, some less so. Some over-performances, some under-performances. But that's the way of MMA, isn't it?
From the top down, we've got some quick-notes, then we'll dig into the FiD stuff.
We're pretty surprised with the lack of wrestling for WM challenger Ben Askren. That said, Wanderlei is about as legit a MW champion as we;ve had here in many seasons.
The women's tournament is getting exciting, and I can honestly say I don't have the slightest idea who'll win this one. Rousey is elite, but not always consistent. Carano has some clear holes that Rousey can totally exploit. It will be a good one!
The lightweight tournament is also shaping up nicely.
Yeah, I got nothing else. Performance evaluation time.
Felice Herrig (5-13) - At 5-13, we need to see Felice beating lower-end fighters, not getting destroyed by them. Her loss to Robb is a huge blow, and will earn her a place on the FiD list.
Sean Sherk (4-11) - We love Sean, but unfortunately after 3 straight losses, and a 4-11 record, we've got to keep a closer eye on Sherk to see if he belongs here. We are of the belief he does, and expect he will be able to turn things around in the near future.
Luke Rockhold (16-19-1) - Rockhold got a decent win tonight, but with 1 win in his last 6 fights, it's not quite enough to get him off our radar. He's not on the FiD for now, the win kept him off that, but we've still got an eye on his future performances, hoping he can get his act together a bit more consistently.
Patrick Cote (10-14) - Cote has spurts of awesome. He comes to fight. We like that. But unfortunately, after 3 straight losses, we have to keep a closer eye on his performances as well, and make sure he still has a spot here. No FID for now, but we need to see the real Patrick Cote come out for fights, and not the shell of a man we've seen lately.
Chuck Liddell (30-22) - Chucky's on a 3 fight losing streak. But he's also an elite ManMMA fighter, and has been fighting the best of the best. Cain was a painful loss in a fight he probably should have won, but not enough to warrant a closer look. He is safe for now, as we don't expect this slump to last long.
And we'll leave it there for now. Questions, comments, concerns? Any questions about any of your other fighters status' or anything? Etc?
