This is the timeline I am now looking at for the 2 new championships (and how they will work).
SuperFight Championship
- This will be a single-night tournament for starters, with everyone submitting 1 fighter they want to participate. We will see how the numbers go, but I will make that work.
- This will likely take place at ManMMA 279 (since we have no title fight scheduled for that event).
- I will be PMing people pretty much right now about who, if anyone, you want competing for your team for this belt.
General SuperFight Championship reminders for when picking your fighter(s) to compete in the inaugural tournament:
- The SuperFight Champion can NOT participate in the Grand Prix; any other participants in the inaugural tournament can be in the GP, as long as they are not injured.
- Sitting SuperFight Champions can NOT be sent to camp.
- after the first SuperFight Champion is crowned, the title will be defended on a first come, first serve challenge basis. Details on that will be established very soon (we can either go with blind challenges, where the challenge is PMed to me and the next opponent is a surprise until posted in fight announcements, or open challenges, where the thread is posted and the order is established publicly.
Second Women's Division/Championship
- We'll be organizing this split over the off-season, after Grand Prix, but before the draft. An extra round will be added to the draft (but for drafting women only, not for points or male fighters) for people who wish to add another woman to fill out the new weight class. More details on this will come soon.
- The current women's championship will become the heavier weight class (Bantamweights and above) and a new tournament will be held at the beginning of next season to establish a new champion for everyone below bantamweight.
- The first women's lighter-weight tournament will start with 8 contenders at ManMMA 281, and conclude at 283, with the winner being crowned champion. Tournaments will continue on that routine for the rest of the season, making this an incredibly simple and smooth transition.
