Shinya Aoki defends the Lightweight title!
What. A. War. And the right kind of MMA war. Technique and skillz mixed to bring about an epic 9 round title fight - so, so rare here to have a fight go past 5. These guys are both SOOO TOUGH, and they both recover so well between rounds as well. In the end, though, after 39 submissions from Shinya Aoki, the body's got to give. Mad props to BJ for locking in 22 of his own as well. Unsure going for takedowns were a good idea from him, but AOki is dodgey as hell, so he didn't have much success standing or GnPing.
Also amazing to note - these guys fought for 44 and a half minutes, and stamina was never a factor for either man.
