My issue with this whole thing is the patent is for "economy class". In other words, give the poor people shitty seating with limited space and some jackass who actually likes the new arrangement smiling in your face the whole flight.
Make this seating standard across all classes and I would have less objections to it. Cram more lower class people in so the first class passengers have more luxury - that i have a problem with.

I don't see it as cramming them together really when you consider that you're already pretty tight in those seats as it is. Imean, each seat gets its own arm rest, each passenger gets a bit more leg room, and you don't have to crane you neck to the left or right all the time if you're traveling with a companion. The only real hardship I could see with this design are the trays not being able to be situated on the back of the seat front of you and would likely have to be a mechanism stowed and flips up from the side of the seats.

MAybe. I donno man, they looked really cramped in this picture: And it pretty much eliminates the option of any reclining too.

It really doesn't look any more cramped to me than it already is and the leg room for me is a big thing since my knees are usually either touching the seat in front of me or really close to it. I'm sure they'd find a way to recline the seats as well. Just because they're attached side to side/back to back, doesn't mean the won't recline.
