so many people tell me they dont' dream (obviously since most of them are not insane biologically speaking they do), but I have always rememered parts of dream etc for at least a few minutes after waking up, after which thye tend to fade really quickly and I don't remember unless I chat with someone about it.
The other major time I remember dreams is when I dream about something practical or almost real (like something that happens at work) and then I can't remember if it actually happened or if I dreamed it.

I literally remember a major bulk of almost every dream I have. I also have horrific night terrors, experience sleep paralysis on a monthly basis (usually during naps in middle of the day), and was a sleepwalker until I was about 11 or 12 (then it died off).
My dreams have literally helped me craft short stories (most recently "Lorelai"), and are a constant reminder throughout my day after I have them.
Sometimes I forget them quickly, but most of the time I can have a 20 minute discussion breaking down everything, and can even recognize the bizarre links that switch from one aspect of the dream to the other.
I'm not explaining this like "this is my talent," I actually kind of hate it. Most of my dreams are "scary", and I prefer to not think of them. But here I am. Constantly thinking of them.
Annoying as balls, yo!

Annoying as balls, yo! Interesting, I wonder if the fear response encodes it more in the memory. Basic evolution dictates that we remember fear times, because it increases our chances to avoid those things and live. So I'd be curious to know if it extends to the unreal realm of our dream's

That makes a whole lot of sense to me. Wouldn't surprise me. I remember a bit of good dreams, but definitely a boat load of weird/bad ones.

Well thanks for that info. It's always good to know how the other half lives.
