ah so damn sad Mike.
I find songs don't last as long for me as they used to- like there are songs that I can remember meaning so damn much for so long, and now it's like they're more transient, they speak to me for a while and then I move on. Earlier in the year I was obsessed with You and Me, by you and me.
I needed to believe in the kind of love it has I suppose. Anyway, after obsessive listening it no longer "gets" me, but i think I'll always like it.

Well, I can see this is going to be chalked full of Collective Soul tunes from me  No, I don't just listen to Collective Soul, but they are "my Beatles", so I'll start off with the "Smashing Young Men" and go from there. This is the song nearest and dearest to my heart... I'm no Christian, nor is Collective Soul as a band for that matter, but this is one of the greatest songs ever written IMO. The perfect combination of rock & mellow... and melody. ARTIST - COLLECTIVE SOUL

This thread could have been so bad, but everyone is doing quite well. Good work everyone This song is not "special" to me per say, I like it, but it's just one of those songs that brings me to something very specific. Since I'm a movie person, songs usually immediately snap to a specific scene. If you have ever seen Six Feet Under (the finale that is), you will recognize this song and instantly be taken back to the brilliance that is probably the best finale to any show ever made. Even though it's not strictly the theme of this thread, I'm going to keep posting songs that I relate to specific movies, scenes, or events, because that is fun and will make more stories I can share.

SONG: Highway to Hell
WHAT DO I RELATE IT TO: Summerslam 1998
Basically I don't think I had heard this song until the WWF used it as the theme song to SummerSlam 1998. I had heard lots of AC/DC before, but that was kinda the first time I really liked them. Over time they grew on me more and now they are one of my favourite bands, but that was the first song I was like, Fuck yeah! with I think.

A "P.S." anecdote to the AC/DC "story", if it weren't for wrestling (Particularly Monday Night Raw) I don't know if I would have ever found Rammstein (whom everyone here should know I love beyond words).
During a Raw commercial break, there was this fucked up little commercial that basically said and showed nothing except some music. It just kinda opened saying, "Rammstein. Mutter." Then closed saying it again. And I was like...what the fuck is this? Is this...a CD, or...what the fuck? So I Napster'ed it, found a bunch of their songs, fell in complete, unconditional, unadulterated love, and that love still flourishes today.

The meaning of the song, as seen from the video, is the obsession to be thinner for models and women in general, and how every photograph is heavily touched up to give them a perfect appearance, etc. That whole she-bang.
