Here are the top 5 highlighted trades made before December 31st, 2013.
1. HW Blockbuster
manmma.proboards.com/thread/2352/hammerfists-ferocity
THE TRADE
To HammerFists:
Cain Velasquez
1 point
To Ferocity:
Kimbo Slice
At this point, Kimbo Slice had already won a championship belt twice, once under the regime of the HammerFists team. Kimbo has yet to score another belt since. On the flip side, Velasquez has remained a mainstay for team Rocketmen (for the most part), earning a HW championship, 9 straight title defences (the most in ManMMA HW history), and a SuperFight championship. Kimbo Slice is still a top competitor but the competition in this division has always been absurdly high.
Winner: HammerFists/Rocketmen
2. HammerFists get an Axe Murderer
manmma.proboards.com/thread/3136/hammer-men
THE TRADE
To HammerFists:
MW #1 contender Wanderlei Silva (17-14)
To Sandmen:
1 point
Dave Bautista
Jonathan Brookins
Kaitlin Young
Seriously? 1 point and a trio of scrubs? Really? We've already talked at length of Silva's dominance at the MW division.
Winner: HammerFists
3. Cannon Gets a Rush
manmma.proboards.com/thread/3925/cannon-rebel-storm
THE TRADE
To Rebel Storm
Dan Henderson (26-22-1)
5 points
TO Cannon
George ST Pierre
Let's just call this what it is: a legitimate trade. 5 points is nothing to scoff at, and add to that Dan Henderson - now a perenial contender, and you've scored yourself one of the most consistent MW fighters in ManMMA history. While the Rebel Storm eventually disbanded, you can't say this was a loss.
Winner: Tie
4. Franklin Leaves Ferocity
manmma.proboards.com/thread/4064/hammerfists-ferocity?page=1
THE TRADE
To Ferocity:
Junior Dos Santos (30-12)
To HammerFists:
Rich Franklin (19-17)
Let's really take a look at the numbers here. Junior was 30-12 and Franklin was a mere 19-17. It was, at the time, a landslide win for Ferocity. Junior went on to win Ferocity a HW championship belt. Franklin, on the other hand, won the title under Rocketmen, and successfully defended it 4 times before suffering a defeat to Robbie Lawler.
Winner: Tie
5. Byron and PHX Make a Swap
manmma.proboards.com/thread/4351/phx-lbc?page=1
THE TRADE
TO: Phoenix Fight Club
Pat Miletich (6-11)
TO: Lord Byron's Conquistadors
Jon Fitch (21-18)
Jon Fitch is never taken lightly, so the idea of him being dealt off for a project fighter in Miletich was going to be a long term plan. That long-term plan finally paid off, though in a small amount, when Miletich earned himself the number one contendership against Robbie Lawler. That fight ended quickly, but it was proof that Miletich was on his way up. Fitch, on the other hand, has continued to act as the gatekeeper for the MW division, but still posesses a winning record.
Winner: Tie
