This is a quick overview evaluation of the top trades made before January 1st, 2015.
1. Dozers Get C&C Music Factory
manmma.proboards.com/thread/4982/bulldozers-rocketman
THE TRADE
To: Rocketman
Demetrious Johnson
Frank Shamrock
Hisae Watanabe
To: Bulldozers
Mark Coleman
Marloes Coenen
Let's admit this to be what it is - a new member, and a generosity trade. By the time Mark Coleman and Marloes Coenen became part of the 'Dozers team, they were already established fighters ready to continue to dominate and improve his team's fighting chance for Grand Prix appearances. Coleman won and then defended the HW championship 3 times, while Coenen went on to win it twice under the Ducks banner.
Winner: xx - Former Bulldozers
2. That Time 2 Major Fighters were Dealt for 4 Points
manmma.proboards.com/thread/5082/sandmen-cannon-2
THE TRADE
To Sandmen
2nd round pick this draft
Luke Rockhold (15-17-1)
Rory MacDonald (11-21-1)
To Cannon
4 points
The words "damn, that's a lot of points" appear on the thread for this trade. Four points earned project builds of Luke Rockhold and Rory MacDonald - now considered two of the best WW and MW fighters in real life. Oh, and a 2nd round pick. So, essentially 1 point per fighter and pick, and then an additional point. That's it. And at the time, this was considered a bad trade because The Sandmen moved too many points. Looking back on it, and with more development going into Rockhold and MacDonald currently, those 4 points seem practically insignificant.
Winner: The Sandmen despite the "at the time" assessment of xx - Camp Cannon
3. Penn The Bully
manmma.proboards.com/thread/5306/conquistadors-bullies
THE TRADE
To Bullies
B.J. Penn
Kazushi Sakuraba
To Conquistadors
Ross Pearson
Gegard Mousasi
Lord Byron's Conquistadors moved out arguably the greatest LW fighter of all time in BJ Penn, and Gracie killer Sakuraba for Ross Pearson and Gegard Mousasi. Let that sink in. While Penn has never won a LW championship, he has increasingly become one of, if not the best, Grand Prix fighter in ManMMA's history. In retrospect, this is a landslide win for Penn alone, but Sakuraba has always been a near even record fighter, and in ManMMA, that's a pretty good thing.
Winner: xx - The Broad Street Bullies
4. Bullies and Byron Blockbuster
manmma.proboards.com/thread/5510/conqistadors-bullies-trade
THE TRADE
To Conquistadors:
Kelly Kobold
Jeff Monson
6 points
To Bullies:
Chuck Liddell
Gray Maynard
Six points is nothing to scoff at, especially for members who have 1/10th the amount of posts as others. And when Bullies swung this deal with Byron, he was essentially gifting Kobolt and Monson for Maynard while being charged 6 points, or 150 posts for a member who has just 10 times that over 2 years, for Chuck Liddell. Chuck has been a gatekeeper of sorts for the HW division, and continues to be a menace. Kobold and Monson are thought to be dead.
Winner: xx - The Broad Street Bullies
5. Get a Little Nakai = #Rinning
manmma.proboards.com/thread/5581/bullies-sandmen
THE TRADE
To Bullies:
Rin Nakai
To Sandmen:
2 pts
Two points for a member that struggled to accumulate said points was a big deal for relative unknown Nakai. Since then, The Sandmen pumped her full of upgrades, and she's become a force in the BW division. Nakai has been in the top 10 and constantly challenging for a title since the acquisition.
Winner: The Sandmen
6. Bullies Gives Something for Nothing
manmma.proboards.com/thread/5681/bullies-grapplemuch
THE TRADE
To xx - Team GrappleMuch?
Jake Shields (14-17) (45%)
To The Broad Street Bullies
Nothing
This trade prompted debate about charity. Essentially, it was okay for The Rocketmen to gift away fighters to new members, but no one else could do that. A debate ensued, but the trade went through. But then soon after, Cor quit, and Shields went away for nothing, so neither guy really got anything.
Winner: Neither, thought the charity work was respected.
7. That Time Bulldozers Gave Back
manmma.proboards.com/thread/5914/ducks-billdozers?page=1
THE TRADE
To The Mighty Ducks
Marloes Coenen (34-21) FF
To Canadian Bulldozers
Hisae Watanabe (4-3)
I like to talk about the cool and good things folks do. After feeling his team was established enough, xx - Former Bulldozers felt he could give back to the ManMMA community and dealt Coenen to the Ducks. Thoughtfulness can go a long way.
Winner: Tie - but everyone wins when people are being good to each other.
8. The Biggest Purchase of All Time
manmma.proboards.com/thread/5913/bullies-cannon?page=1
THE TRADE
To Camp Cannon:
Brad Pickett
16 points on the spot
To The Broad Street Bullies:
Georges St-Pierre
Who the fuck is Brad Pickett, and what is he doing blemishing this masterpiece of a trade? The thread turns into a clusterfuck, but the trade itself is still the most points exchanged for a single fighter and probably will never be topped.
Winner: Bullies, because who the fuck is Brad Pickett?
9. That Time Kruze Needed Immediacy
manmma.proboards.com/thread/6427/phoenix-fc-sandmen
THE TRADE
TO: Phoenix Fight Club
6 points
TO: The Sandmen
8 points; as acquired starting at 11,600 posts.
xx - Former Phoenix Fight Club wanted points immediately. The Sandmen had immediate points and charged additional future points to have them. Kruze accepted this trade, applied those points, and the rest is history - what history? I don't know. I, to this day, still don't know who the 6 points went into, but considering Lesnar won his championship about a year and a half later, your guess is as good as mine. I guess we'll never truly know. Maybe those points are still out there, taking in the moonlight in a picnic under the stars. Or maybe they were spent and I didn't feel like digging through the transactions history thread to bother finding out what heppened. I am lazy.
Winner: I guess it's a tie?
