Here are a collection of significant trades that went down in 2015.
1. Ferocity Claims a Champ
manmma.proboards.com/thread/6803/ferocity-sandmen
THE TRADE
To Ferocity
Joachim Hansen (42-9)
To Sandmen
Tito Ortiz (29-27)
1st Round Pick (this draft)
2nd round pick (this draft)
1 point
On paper, this trade is close to even but that's with the help in upgrades Ortiz has recently earned. Hansen was a dominant champion, winning the belt 3 times and defending it 12 more, but after the trade, Hansen would lose the belt to Michael Chandler, who would then get crushed by Shinya Aoki and the 17 title defense run of the legendary ManMMA LW fighter would go on to crush records. Now, Hansen is always in the title picture, but has yet to secure the gold. Ortiz is a fighter on the rise and could very soon be challenging for a title of his own. It's close, but acquiring a champion is always the edge.
Winner: Ferocity
2. Ortiz Finds a New Home
manmma.proboards.com/thread/6806/phx-sandmen
THE TRADE
To Phoenix
Tito Ortiz (29-27)
To Sandmen
Krzysztof Soszynski (1-3)
2 points
Let's face it - this is Tito Ortiz here. And while some may feel he was dominant at a time when there wasn't much in the form of opposition, it's still Tito Ortiz. Getting him for a guy who I don't even think is in ManMMA anymore plus 2 points is a steal and a half, and since he's been re-worked, he's broken into the top 15 rankings and is always a threat no matter the competition. Credit owed where credit due. Patience paid off for Phoenix.
Winner: xx - Former Phoenix Fight Club
3. Rocketmen Gambles and Loses
manmma.proboards.com/thread/6530/savage-garden-pocket-rockets
THE TRADE
To Savages:
Lauren Murphy
To Rocketman!:
Kankaanpaa - apparently this is a real word
12 points (1 immediate, next 11 acquired)
There used to be this mysterious member who quit and then returned and took a team and wanted Murphy, and then made a trade with the most gullible member on the site - me. As you can see, the idea of 11 to be acquired points going The Rocketmen 's way was a long shot, and, spoiler alert, it never happened. The trade happened on January 8, and on January 28, Lauren Murphy was being auctioned off to the highest bidder after the quit, and Rocketmen lost out on 6 points.
Winner: xx - The Broad Street Bullies for dropping Vanessa Porto to acquire Lauren Murphy in the auction. Guess who lost? Rocketmen. Fuck that guy.
4. That Time Dan Severn Spread The Wealth
manmma.proboards.com/thread/6971/underdogs-sandmen-et-al?page=1
THE TRADE
To The Underdog Regime:
Dan Severn (13-27-1)
To The Sandmen:
1 point (from The Underdog Regime)
To The Broad Street Bullies:
1 point (from The Underdog Regime)
To Camp Cannon
1 point (from The Underdog Regime)
This trade benefited xx - The Underdog Regime except that other trades were made around it where teams were gifting other teams fighters - because we all secretly love each other on this site. Anyways, this led to a debate to the validity of even moving points around to other folks for free, words were said, feelings were possibly hurt, Batman wrote an e-mail in a movie... you know, the standard.
Winner: xx - The Broad Street Bullies and the peeps that got free points for existing.
5. That Time PHX and Byron Couldn't Decide Who Got The Points
manmma.proboards.com/thread/6985/lord-byron-phx-real-time
THE TRADE
to phx:
jon fitch
to lord byron
josh barnett
BUT we agree that we want josh to fight jon at catchweight and whoever wins has to pay an extra 2 points in this trade (so it will either be fitch +2 for josh OR josh +2 for fitch)
This might be one of my most favourite trades ever made on ManMMA because of how bizarre it is. Essentially, both guys valued their own fighter as being the better cage warrior and then inevitably put their money where their mouths were. Spoiler alert, Jon Fitch won, and made the deal Barnett and 2 points for Jon Fitch. No bitching ensued.
Winner: xx - Former Phoenix Fight Club and Lord Byron's Conquistadors for making things interesting!
6. Rocketmen Returns to Franklin
manmma.proboards.com/thread/6983/byron-rocketmen
THE TRADE
to rocketmen
Rich Franklin
to byron
Ken SHamrock
8 points
Rocketmen pays a heft price to land Franklin and proceeds to massively upgrade the shit out of him. This leads to a championship. Somewhere in the world of ManMMA, Ken Shamrock has heard news that real-life Royce Gracie smashed his testicles, and he's been in hiding ever since.
Winner: The Rocketmen but then again, Bas Rutten did all of a sudden become amazing...
7. Underdogs Makes a Blockbuster
manmma.proboards.com/thread/7006/sandmen-underdogs
THE TRADE
To The Sandmen
Milana Dudieva (5-4)
Roy Nelson (7-13)
Khabib Nurmagomedov (1-9)
Brian Stann (19-27)
1 point (as acquired)
1st Round Pick (this upcoming draft)
2nd Round Pick (this upcoming draft)
To The Underdog Regime
Cung Le (56-24)
Let's break it down piece by piece. As of the end of last season, Dudieva was on Byron's team, Roy Nelson was gone, Khabib was gone, and Stann was gone. Cung Le is still a dominant MW fighter, constantly in the mix for a belt, and a top 10 ranked fighter.
Winner: xx - The Underdog Regime
8. Lawler Is A Duck
manmma.proboards.com/thread/7395/lord-conquistaducks
THE TRADE
To Ducks:
Robbie Lawler
Frank Mir
To Byron:
Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira
Paul Daley
Paul Daley is no slouch, but acquiring Lawler and then turning him into practically the real-life version of Robbie Lawler is one of the coolest things to see when you pop on the site and look at the champions board. A decent price to acquire a solid project talent, and it paid off in full for Ducks.
Winner: The Mighty Ducks
