cannon, as a fan for the ufc, is kind of the reason why the organization is now less a sport and more a spectacle.
i prefer to cheer for dominant champs and watch them showcase their art and talent. i don't care what they look like.
the ufc, right now, cares what their fighters look like and what they say. it's starting to become "sports and entertainment" style, and with the "let's give title fights to the popular kids" it also prevents the organization from truly showcasing the best in the world.
it's the equivalent of sending the captain of the cheerleading team to a spelling bee contest. sure, she might be smart, but is she the smartest in the school?
meanwhile, cannon boos the foreign exchange student who is trying to put her school on the map by spelling floccinaucinihilipilification and calling her a homosexual anytime she says the letter "i".

Found the Ronda Rousey corner cam for the end of the fight, and it's absolutely fascinating. streamable.com/ebt2dFew things after watching that: 1. How Edmund loses his mind and the rest of his team is like "meh, expected." 2. There's rumours suggesting Edmund had money on the fight, which sort of alters the emotional reaction of his fighter losing... his fighter lost in 2 ways in that case. 3. An audience member on the right side (dude in black shirt) gets up and shrugs his shoulders. 4. Most fans seem either disappointed (but not extremely, like no real "oh no" reactions), or almost don't even react at all. This, IMO, proves that MMA fans knew it was going to go down this way. 5. The trainer on the right (in white), gives the tiniest "ah shucks" hand slap to the canvas. That's it? Really? What do you think? |
