That's honestly what has bugged me the most. Ronda was fun to cheer for the casual fan because she won fights and doesn't look like a gremlin (for the most part). So hey, sort of pretty + winning fighter = marketability. It's printing money.
...only that her opponents were the equivalent of Ronda being, at best, a second line center facing off against AHL 4th liners (if that). I mean, Bethe Correia was a fucking accountant before their fight... Her only REAL opponents?
Miesha Tate - who has never been the same since Strikeforce, but still beat the girl that knocked out Ronda Rousey.
Holly Holm - a kickboxer who knocked her out, easily.
Amanda Nunes - who literally did nothing special tonight, just textbook and relentless.
Rousey is a joke, has always been an inflated-record champion for gimme fights, and now her legacy is (rightfully so) destroyed. People wonder why she ducked Cyborg by using the whole weight thing for forever? This is why. I like Nunes, but she's not Cyborg.
If Ronda didn't stick with Edmond, maybe she would have had a chance. But even the one time in this fight she tried to do Judo, it was stuffed easily.
And what does she get for her less than a minute knuckle sandwich? 3 FUCKING MILLION DOLLARS.
What does Nunes get for being a legitimate fighter? 200K.

I've never seen Cody fight before his shot against Cruz and he was a big surprise. A bit too much mocking, but I mean, that's the way people are getting money now. Showboating is a major part of what the UFC has become, so that kid is definitely on his way up.

I've said since they HANDED her the belt she was overrated (Champions don't get handed belts, they fucking win them). People kept just pointing to her domination as evidence I was wrong. Ronda is the most legit judo MMA fighter probably in MMA. She is NOT a well-rounded mixed martial artist. If you are good enough, and can round your game out enough, that doesn't matter. Chuck Liddell. Considered a GOAT. Thing that guy's throwing up flying armbars? Think he knows anything about BJJ? But he did understand enough of the rest of MMA to lock that shit down, become one of the best takedown-defence wrestlers in the game, and force ground fighters to stand with him, making them play his game. Ronda needed to stop trying to be the best at everything and just focus on what kept her the best. When she got confidence in her stand up (The Bethe win was horrible for her career), she lost her "takedown at all costs" game, lost, then lost again. Miserably. Old Ronda, the takedown and submit Ronda, would be a great fight vs. Cyborg. I would have loved to have seen it, not as a mauling, but as a good, competitive fight. Can Ronda take Cyborg down? Can Cyborg stop her from doing so? Those were the questions. But once this whole "Ronda can knock out Cyborg" shit came along, the idea of Cyborg vs. Rousey turned into a joke. It's pretty obvious Cyborg would annhilate Ronda. Standing. But I wanted to see the MMA of that dream fight. Ronda is not a UFC-calibre stand-up fighter. She is, however, a UFC-Champion-level grappler. She. Needs. To. Fucking. Grapple.
