So I just thought I'd put this out for general discussion. UFC 151 scheduled for Sept 2 has been cancelled due to Dan Henderson's knee injury. Bones Jones refused to fight Chael Sonnen as a substitute fighter. This is the first time this has ever happened in the UFC. Thoughts?

This is fucked...... Who cares if Jones doesn't want to fight Sonnen, if he doesn't show up, Sonnen gets the title, that simple

I think Jones forgets he won the title as a replacement for Evans. Or maybe that's the point. I just think it sucks for all the other fighters that rely on these fights to pay their bills. Not the big money fighters. Also all the fans that booked hotels and flights that are getting screwed.
Some of this falls on Dana too. He needs to have deeper cards so that when something like this happens again, he has other fights that can be moved up to main event status.

Cancel the fight, and move the 152 main event forward? IDK but cancelling the whole event because Jon Jones is a pussy and doesn't want to fight Sonnen isnt the way to go.

I can see it both ways I guess. At first I was pissed at Jones and thought he was being a little bitch. But I guess you can look at it from both sides. He's trained and prepared for a completly different fighter. He's the only one with something to lose.

I'm not going to say Jones shouldn't have accepted the fight (particularily in light of Dana having tantrums and threatening not to allow people to fight "EVER AGAIN" before) but seriously there is no reason with the UFC's current depth to have cards weak enough that there is a need to cancel. With current depth levels, every card should leave the audiance barely able to sit down. They just don't want to pay and still charge ridiculous amounts for people to watch fights on their own t.v.'s which costs them next to nothing.

He's just now moving into the 205 weight, like come on!

Sonnen Wins
"I was willing to step in to help the industry, to help the company, and to help the sport that I love," said Sonnen. "I have fans and friends and people I don't even know who are flying in to see this. There's people who have had to take time off work, save money, find babysitters, all so they can go out and see the greatest show known to man: a live UFC. There are fighters on the undercard who are quite literally depending on this $5,000 or $10,000 guarantee they get for showing up and walking out there and competing in the hardest sport in the world just to keep their lights on next month. And there's a domino effect from there. Those guys have managers and gym dues and sparring partners [for whom] the $75 or $100 they get is the difference between a meal or not. This is a huge deal. This is so much bigger than one bratty, entitled kid named Jon Jones."
