The "Survivor Series" Suggestion

I have a minute from other life things to start putting my brain to work, storming ways to make this the best it can be.

I want this to take place at our half-way point, so the 10th event of the season, or ManMMA 490 this season.


I'll throw out this preliminary sketch for how we could do this and we can throw ideas around and hammer it home from there.

Core idea Sketch
- We start with a poll, and the 2 teams with the most votes become this seasons Squad Captains.
- Squad Captains will be responsible for drafting their squads (they are drafting members, not fighters).
- The Squad Captain with the most votes drafts a member first ^{(Note 1)}
- They pick a MEMBER to join their team. Then the other Squad Captain goes, and back and forth.
- Once both Squads have 6 members, the Squads are done. The poor fucker not picked does not participate this season.
- Each MEMBER selected chooses a fighter from their team to participate in the Survivor Series. ^{(Note 2)}
- Max. one fighter per weightclass, and members pick their fighter in order they were drafted ^{(Note 3)}.
- Captains picks their fighter first ^{(Note 4)}
- SuperFight champion can compete, but their title will be on the line. Do we want to make a special exception and allow regular champions to participate with their titles on the line as well? (There will be no non-title fights, if champs fight, the title is on the line)
- The winning squad gets 2 points per each.
- In the event of a draw.....(discuss below, in this thread)
- Next season, the current season's Squad Captains will be ineligible to be Squad Captains again, and the team that sat out this season MUST be selected in the following season. This will continue until everyone has sat out, and everyone has been a Squad Captain.


^{Note 1} Or we could do a coin toss, or pick a number or something if we want to go more random chance.
^{Note 2} Though we could do this privately, like GP lists, I would suggest we do this publicly, with the team that drafted members having to publicly post their selection first.
^{Note 3} Or members choose their fighter in reverse-order they were drafted in.
^{Note 4} Or Captain picks their fighter last.

Note 2 does not look completed. I'd be all for the title fight chances and what not, this sounds dope. What if people dont want to participate?

If you don't want to be a Squad Captain, you can withdraw your name. But in terms of teams/fighters, the same thing that happens if they don't want regular fights on a regular card. Nothing. Their fighters fight. That's what fighters do.

All bells and whistles aside, this basically amounts to a regular fight, except you choose who fights, and you might get 2 points for it.

I like 2 and 4.

Or the team who wasn't picked gets all the points

Option 5 for tie-breaker. Team not selected gets to challenge with his fighter against any non-champion fighter of any other team as the tie-breaker fight. The team he selects to fight with his fighter is the tie-breaking option for that squad. The non-selected team therefore defaults to the opposite team, effectively giving the non-selected team participation rights to choose what side he/she wants to be on.

Another thought:

The team NOT selected automatically becomes a captain the following season, with everyone voting for the 2nd captain. So you go from "not picked" to mother fucking "top dawg" and you serve as a tie-breaker, joining the festivites.

Got an alternative? And it's more of a "you are voting for who you want to represent you". Like elections. I guess elections are popularity contests. Weird how we hate people focusing on being popular in school, and yet the concept literally governs the Western world.

Maybe the top two teams in standings should be first and second captains for this season just to kick it off, and then have it bounce around after that.
