Alright here we go: www.google.ca/search?q=sentinelese&client=firefox-a&hs=liz&rls=org.mozilla:en-US:official&channel=sb&source=lnms&tbm=isch&sa=X&ei=Wqb8U9zRONH7oQSXn4Bo&ved=0CAYQ_AUoAQ&biw=1366&bih=657That link is a google images search of the Sentinelese people in Africa. A quick background: The Sentinelese (also Sentineli, Senteneli, Sentenelese, North Sentinel Islanders) are an indigenous people of the Andaman Islands of India in the Bay of Bengal. They inhabit North Sentinel Island, which lies westward off the southern tip of the Great Andaman archipelago. They are noted for resisting attempts at contact by outsiders. The Sentinelese maintain an essentially hunter-gatherer society subsisting through hunting, fishing, and collecting wild plants. There is no evidence of either agricultural practices or methods of producing fire. Their language remains unknown. More info for those curious: www.neatorama.com/2013/07/08/The-Forbidden-Island/#!bKud6j Gives a good story of their history. Anyways, the reason I bring this up is that we know of their existence, but there has been little attempt at invasion. This is sort of important to what I want to discuss: The Influence of Our Society on a Newly Discovered People It was discussed on Joe Rogan's podcast, and now I find the theory of this to be positively intriguing. Should we manage to all of a sudden discover a new populace, one we have never seen before, will our knowledge of them suddenly disrupt, corrupt or influence their lives? For instance, if we set up cameras just to study them, would the recognition that there are suddenly cameras (despite this peoples inability to know what a camera is) dissuade them from continuing their natural life? It begs to question whether anything can truly be observed uncontaminated because of even the vaguest engagement with the the subject. I wonder if this should ever happen if it is better to study them immediately, go in and research it with hands on aggression, or to completely ignore it. How do you study something without affecting it and thus ultimately altering it in some way? Thoughts?

They are an exotic animal. I am a Caucasian, they are an isolated African tribe. Maybe instead of trying to be offended or create some sort of criticism over the information I presented you could shift your attention to the topic of how you feel about anthropology? Anyone else want to participate? Here's why I bring it up. There was a tribe that during WW2 saw planes flying overhead, but had no idea of that technology, nor had any contact with the civilizations that were able to participate in WW2. So these tribes began to draw the planes, and praise them as gods. When the war ended, they started to believe the gods had abandoned them. In a weird correlation, it's similar to the testing of failed or confidential aircrafts that people have spotted since the 50s and believed were aliens. It's just fascinating to me how the human brain translates information. So when I bring up the possibility of randomly just discovering a whole new people, my question is how do you study them to learn of their culture, practices, etc. without tampering? If they see a camera, will they start to relate it to something as the past tribes associated planes to gods? so if i flew a plane into the tribe lands would they make me their god? and would they mine diamonds for me?
