This Season's PPP System

Problems To be Solved:
- equality in the league while maintaining advantages for those who post more
- PPP "brackets" (People like GAP and Bulldozers have a dramatic range in posting activity, and having a 15 or 25 bracket for either gets complicated.
- Non-posters being left behind entirely (which has lead to people quitting in the past due to "not being able to keep up").
- Easier work for the person keeping track of Point Allocation


Proposal:
- changing PPP

How Would it Work?
- Everyone (except The Sandmen) would be at 25PPP. The Sandmen would stay at 40
- At the half-way point, and at the end of each season, the average points earned THROUGH POSTING would be calculated.
- Long story short, (mathematical technicalities that don;t matter) almost everyone in the league would get a bonus based on how active the league was as a whole during that time. LArger bonuses would go to teams with fewer points earned (through posting) and smaller ones, if any, would be earned by teams who posted the most.

I'm Confused. How would this have changed my points from last season?

Okay, with the tiered system (15-25-40) PPP from last season, the following points were earned from posting only:
Canadian Bulldozers - 1
The Broad Street Bullies - 3
West Coast Knockouts - 3 (at 15 PPP)
Team GAP - 4
The Ultimate Underdogs - 6 (at 15 PPP)
Ferocity - 13 (at 15 PPP)
Camp Cannon - 17
Lord Byron's Conquistadors - 22 (at 15 PPP)
The RocketMen - 37
The Mighty Ducks - 47 (at 15 PPP)
Phoenix Fight Club - 62
The Sandmen - 66


With the new proposed system (25PPP for everyone), points earned from posting COMBINED with the new bonuses, for last season would look like this:
Canadian Bulldozers - 12 (2 from posting, 10 bonus)
The Broad Street Bullies - 10 (3 from posting, 7 bonus)
West Coast Knockouts - 12 (2 from posting, 10 bonus)
Team GAP - 9 (4 from posting, 5 bonus)
The Ultimate Underdogs - 10 (3 from posting, 7 bonus)
Ferocity - 10 (7 from posting, 3 bonus)
Camp Cannon - 18 (17 from posting, 1 bonus)
Lord Byron's Conquistadors - 15 (12 from posting, 3 bonus)
The RocketMen - 38 (37 from posting, 1 bonus)
The Mighty Ducks - 28 (27 from posting, 1 bonus)
Phoenix Fight Club - 62 (62 from posting, 0 bonus)
The Sandmen - 66 (66 from posting, 0 bonus)

The 2 teams most dramatically affected by this change (Ducks and Conquistadors) were in the 15 PPP bracket and have moved up into the 25 PPP bracket this season. But since I hate, hate, hate having to make that judgement call every season, we have this simple 25-across-the-board solution.



The algorithm for this is complicated as fuck to explain, so I won't even bother (you can have the Excel file with the formulas if you want), but since I have Excel doing the calculations for me now that I have developed the formula, it will take about 30 seconds each time to calculate - just punching in the post totals basically.


Unless something game-breaking comes up in the following Q&A, I think we'll try this for this season and see how it goes. I really like that it creates a communally beneficial relationship between all of the leagues posters - the more THE WHOLE LEAGUE posts, the more bonuses everyone gets.

Ok so it's being calculated... why? What's it being calculated for? Sounds like the same thing we have only points given out at mid-season and end of season... what's the difference other than it being "easier to keep track of" for the Point Allocation guy?

Instead of the lower-posting teams being at 15 PPP, EVERYONE (except me) is at 25. The league average is factored into a mid-season and the end-of-season bonus, whereby every team gets additional points.

So to review, for last season, rather than The West Coast Knockouts getting 3 points, he would get 12. The way it's calculated, the teams that post more still get more points, but the teams that cannot be as active, such as xx - Team GAP, get some extra points so they don't have to worry so much about falling too far behind (GAP would have got 9 points last season with this new system, instead of 4 points).

No, you would get 1 extra, totalling 18, instead of 17. The stronger posters benefit less from this then the weaker posters, but still maintain a HUGE advantage, since they still get their points earned through posting.

So you're basically instituting a new PPP system that I'm basically the only one in the league (except you) that doesn't get a bonus at all. So, from a team stand point, why would I endorse this? I'm not staff.

How about you shut the fuck up for once? I'm allowed to have an opinion and I'm allowed not to like it. I don't have one of the best teams in the league, and because of my activity, I'm carrying a larger roster which does demand the generation of points. This is just looking like a ploy to do one of two things: 1) To make it so I get less points than I probably should, if we're giving out bonuses or 2) to get me to limit my activity and get the bonuses. All masked by giving bonuses to everyone else in the league so that everyone will go along with it.

Plus, if you look at the little comparison there, guys like Byron, who's always complaining that he doesn't make enough points, and Ferocity, end up getting less points on this proposed system and generally are generally a low volume posters to begin with and then you see Ducks there too, who'd end up losing a whopping 19 points with with this new system. That's 36% of the league that are affected either negatively or it's of no benefit to at all. I'm seriously sick of, in the end, being the target of these things. Yes, I'm an very active member, but I also have the roster size to facilitate having higher post volumes so that it's not overly one-sided for folks that have been complaining about my post volumes and activity. No one else in the league has a 25 fighter roster, and I guaran-damn-tee you that if I pared that down by 10 fighters to say 15 fighters, we'd be having this discussion all over again, and again, because instead of having 25 fighters to spread those 62 points over it'd be 15 and you'd all be screaming bloody murder again and we'll be here discussing raising my PPP all over again or devising another scheme for PPP because of my post volume. It's a vicious cycle, but as I've been saying for years, why should anyone be penalized for being active? Last time I checked, you want active members on these sites.
