Yes, I am bringing this up again.
I still really think we should let the SuperFight Champion fight in the Grand Prix.
His title would be on the line in all of his fights, and the belt could change hands several times over the GP.
I think it adds a really exciting element to the Grand Prix. Do you risk losing your belt to put your SF Champion in the GP? How many times could the title change hands in a single night? A team could walk out of GP with 1 win, 4 losses, and a belt as a consolation prize. A team who had no intentions of getting a title shot could walk away with a champion. It could shake things up and add a little more meaning to the GP too. Plus, TITLES!
I know people have said in the past that titles are titles and champions should not be eligible for the GP, but I think since the SF title is a challenge belt, and not one that is earned via tournament or anything, the possibilities for exciting shifts, defences, and changes is just too cool to pass up.
AND I also feel like the SuperFight title has a little less prestige than the others. I think it would add to it's value if having it did not disqualify the champion from GP participation. Again, emphasizing the SF title as a totally unique belt.
(Also, I'm sure this is meaningless because its just words, but I don't suggest this because my guy is SuperFight Champion - I actually expect him to lose to Coleman - Or Liddell if he gets through Coleman. But mostly, all of what I said above really interests me and excites me. And since, as of this post, my guy IS the SF champion...I kinda need people's permission to go forward with this rule)
I donno, I just get really excited when I think about the dynamics that could come about from having the SF champ defend his belt at GP (if his team chooses to enter him that is).
Come on, guys. This is too exciting an opportunity to pass up yet again. Let's elevate the SuperFight belt to a whole new level and give the Grand Prix some even beefier stakes.
