Okay, so I think I'm going to make a push over the next couple days to get another member or two here. Now, as the rules sit, the Expansion Draft is an option available to new teams.
Everyone aside from @cor99 can see his brand new team is terrible. And any new teams joining will get an even worse selection than he did. It's for that reason we have the expansion draft option - it allows you to keep your core fighters, but also makes sure new teams have a chance to not be, you know, Cors team.
I think for new teams, keeping the expansion draft option open to them is the most fair, but I know a lot of people will be upset with that. So, let's discuss other options. In the mean time, this poll exists as a feeling out measure to see what everyone thinks is best for the league.

I didn't need one and now look at my team. They just have to go to Mike lol and he'll set them off to a nice start.

There are enough nice guys who give charity that the expansion draft isn't as needed.

That's precisely my point now though. The charity has run out. Mike and Byron have basically no more charity to give. If 4 new people come along, where is the charity going to come from? The charity is a charity. It is not something anyone is obligated to do, and not something that should be expected of anyone.
Which brings me back to GrappleMuch... Anyone see that team as a legit threat in any way shape or form? Now imagine how shallow the NEXT team will be. Then the one after that. And compare that to a team like Cannon's, who has 4 top 10 Middleweights.
We don't have problems with this?

The weak start weak, gain points, upgrade their fighters, get some charity, and then their fighters get better. One gets better with time. All fighters have potential, so long as you put points into them.

I heard that on a hockey sim site, stuck around for 15 seasons. The strong stayed strong, the weak stayed weak, the site died.

What are the rules of the Expansion draft as it stands? How many protected? Any compensation? How many people can they choose? Limit for how many from each team?

I've looked at a number of different options. Flat-number stopped working about 5 seasons ago, when we dropped the cap on how many or how few fighters a team could have. So, for example, saying "You protect 7 fighters" would be unfair to a huge team like PHX. So the most recent thing I considered was either a percentage of fighters (protect 80% of your team, for example), or something like, 2 protects per weight class.
I'm open to discussion on this, but as I said, looking at new teams, who is available, etc, once the charity dries up, the poor to build a new team from is very dry.

THIS WAS AN OPTION?

Yes, but I would not have allowed you to have it, since you were a team here already, then left. It's for brand new members who showed up late to the game.

okay, well if I was a former team, and not a new member I should;
a) get my original fighters back or b) receive worthy compensation from the teams who have said fighters

You recieved all the points you had when you left, which was more than double that of a regular new team bonus.
Since you chose to leave, you forfeit your original team members, and any compensation you would have received for them. The extra points were your bonus.
